A DPD driver will give me the money? Really?!

I'm just trying to sell a full sized keyboard.

Someone is keen, she said she will send a DPD driver tomorrow, he will give me the money and I don't need to package it.

Is that real? Can that really happen? I've not heard of this before?

Apparently just before the exchange is supposed to happen you will get a message saying that DPD requires an 'insurance' payment in advance and that the buyer will reimburse you for that amount via the DPD driver.
Presumably once this 'insurance' is paid for that is the last you will hear from them.

It still doesn't make sense to me though... if the buyer is going to reimburse the seller for 'insurance' why wouldn't he/she just pay for it in the first place? Surely no-one would fall for this.

Scammier than any scam carried out by Scamming Jack McScam, winner of last year’s Mr Scam competition.

I just sold my daughter's pushchair via Facebook market place. The first 6 messages were all scammers. I now make the point of saying, at the start of any enquiry, that it's cash on collection ONLY, no couriers, and that gets rid of most of them. Thankfully had a genuine buyer who came, paid cash and took the pushchair. Marketplace is awful - how facebook don't clamp down is beyond me.

Definitely a scam, dontdon't forget it. Ask them to credit your bank a/c and only once you've received it, arrange postage/courier.

Very well known scam and prolific on FB MP.

My partner put a drop-leaf table on local Facebook marketplace, asking £10, collection only. Somebody tried the DPD will collect scam - they live in Romania!

Honestly, we couldn't open laughing.

I had this recently, for a box of left over tiles from a building project which I advertised on Facebook. Price was only £10 though; that's what I don't get?

It's the "insurance" they will sting you for.
