Doofus has been doing this for years and they've been letting him get away with it.

I think now not only are the screws tightening, but he's finding fewer and fewer people willing to 'take a bullet' for him. Sucks to be him right now. Although he probably doesn't realize it yet, the enabling tide may just be starting to turn.

This idea about Trump having planned actually to march on the Capitol in person, which has been floated by Grisham: www.rawstory.com/trump-ellipse-rally/

Could he have walked that far? Or would they have needed to provide a golf-cart for him?

I can't see it. At least, I can't see it if he had the least inkling that violence may erupt, and I'm pretty sure he did because he was inciting that violence.

If he had planned a peaceful rally then, yes, I easily think he could have envisioned himself leading a 'triumphal march' on the Capitol, although I think he would have chosen to ride at the head of the crowd in the POTUS limo 'for safety', similar to the way he had them drive him around waving at the crowds when he had Covid. But since he had no intention of that rally being peaceful, hell no, he'd never put himself in the 'line of fire' either literally or figuratively. Plausible deniability, remember?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 20/01/2022 16:59

I would be interested to know whether, as Grisham suggested, it was vetoed by the Secret Service anyway. He could have floated the idea knowing that they would, but also knowing the suggestion would make it look as if he had expected no trouble.

Only I think that's at least one step too far into reasoning for him. It goes beyond A and B to C.

A little golf cart, adapted maybe, so it looked like a mini Popemobile.

I bet he would have gone for it.

I saw this tweet earlier

This line from Tish James' statement yesterday is pretty priceless:

"In testimony to OAG, Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg admitted that the value of Mr. Trump’s apartment was overstated by 'give or take' $200 million."

Another step in the right direction and hopefully another nail in the coffin of Doofus 2024:

www.aol.com/news/judges-approve-special-grand-jury-214420692-121353849.html

The point of having a 'Special' GJ is that they have subpoena power, which the Fulton Co DA's office does not have.

The SGJ differs from a regular GJ in that it cannot return a criminal indictment, just a recommendation to indict. But at this point I think that it's not an indictment the Fulton DA wants per se, she wants the SGJ because so many people she wanted to interview were refusing to cooperate with the ongoing investigation into Doofus and his machinations. With an SGJ subpoena, they have no option other than to face contempt charges with the possibility of jail time and fines.

With this being a midterm year (in Nov), all these investigations need to get a move on. If the midterms result in the Repugs becoming a majority in govt (local, state, and/or federal) these investigations will be terminated so fast your head will spin. This is also the reason you're seeing all the stalling and stonewalling. The guilty parties and those who assisted them are hoping to legally drag things out until Jan 2025, when the newly elected will be sworn in.

AcrossthePond55 · 25/01/2022 18:54

LOL!!

That should be 2023, not 2025!

lionheart · 25/01/2022 22:06

I think they are also going to look into Lindsey Graham's calls.

Shame that it's a liberal one, but at least the Republicans may not be able to prevent Biden from getting someone in. I think he'd had retirement during Biden's term suggested to him once or twice.

I sw a suggestion that they will take a leaf out of the Republican book and do this quickly.
