Just that really. What do you wear day to day?
After lockdown followed by pregnancy I don't know what happened to my wardrobe but all I seem to own after lockdown cull's are leggings and baggy t shirts!
What do you own and what do you wear for say..

A day at home?
The school run?
A day shopping?
Meeting friends for coffee?

Just wondering what people wear when as I seem to have forgot how to dress!! I spent about £1000 last month trying to update my wardrobe and have barely anything to show for it other than an empty bank account

WFH - leggings and hoodie
WFO - I'm a fan of dresses. Normally black heeled boots, black tights and a knee length dress. Not fitted or too smart. Think shirt dresses etc...
Out with friends - normally a midi dress with trainers (silver superga) or biker boots. Add leather jacket in winter.

maddiemookins16mum · 03/11/2021 17:54

Home - joggers, t shirt, cardigan/fleece, slippers/trainers
Work - smart trousers, top, work cardigans, Dr Martins (shoe type ones)
Shopping/meeting friends - jeans, boots, tops, jackets

MavisMonkey · 03/11/2021 17:55

What did you love to wear pre-pregnancy? Start there and adapt / build from that.

I loved wearing pretty dresses and skirts pre pregnancy and really struggled post as felt I needed to be more casual and adopt the mum uniform of jeans and a top. Eventually I settled on more casual dresses in jersey with tights and boots / trainers.

namechangedaily · 03/11/2021 17:59

@MavisMonkey pre first pregnancy (he's almost 5) I wore jeans, tops, leggings and fitted dresses/vest tops.. I was 27 then thought. After having him I was 14 stone so I wore a lot of leggings and dresses. I'm now 4 stone lighter- I had hyperemesis with my most recent pregnancy(she's 6 weeks old) and could fit in my size 14 jeans within a week! I think I got rid of a lot of my nicer/slimmer more flattering clothes as I didn't think I would wear them again which I massively regret!

At home - wfh or not going out - preferably leggings/soft trousers and t-shirt/hoodie.
Work - black jeans, smarter top, boots or black trainers
Out for evening w friends/dh - jeans or leggings, nice top/smart tunic, boots,
Out in day - varies depending on what I’m doing. Less smart version of above.
I have to say my wardrobe needs a massive overhaul

GTAlogic · 03/11/2021 18:02

If I'm home, I'm in my PJs.

If I'm out but not at work then I wear jeans with a T-shirt, pullover or jumper. I've got into sewing recently and made some informal blouses so I also wear them.

At work I wear smart trousers (with an elasticated waistband) and a top with a cardigan or smart jumper.

coogee · 03/11/2021 18:04

Jeans and a jumper.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 03/11/2021 18:04

Im really trying to move away from jeans and a top etc. So im buying classic bits that can be worn as every day clothes and wearing them every day. I LOVE Other Stories (a bit pricey) for this.

Flubbah · 03/11/2021 18:06

I wear leggings and hoodies all the time. I’m a mum, nobody gives a shit what I look like.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 03/11/2021 18:08

I should say im also a mum to a 19mo and had to sort 'remember' what clothes I liked after my body settled into its new post baby shape.

Do any of you wear jeans just for being round the house, or the school run?

Lollipoplion · 03/11/2021 18:14

Wfh - comfy stuff. Mostly dungarees and tops with cardigans.
Pretty much the same for a normal day at home / school run etc.
For work I usually wear trousers and tops or a jumpsuit.
Meeting friends / coffee etc would usually be jeans and a top. Maybe with a leather jacket if I
Was making more of an effort.
Meeting friends for play dates would usually be jeans & hoody.

There are some great what are you wearing today type threads on the style and beauty board with lots of nice, normal people posting their outfits.

CheapFoodShits · 03/11/2021 18:16

I'm constantly in jeggings or jeans, a fitted tee, baggy sweater or pretty knit and Converse or boots this time of year.

Yes, me.

And me. Live in my jeans
MavisMonkey · 03/11/2021 19:48

I'm increasingly wearing jeans as I WFH now, for me they are smart casual, and dresses for when I want to make a bit more of an effort. Im short and a size 14 so I feel like I can't pull off jeans and a plain top, so generally go for waisted / wrap/ peplum tops or some sort of detail on the top. I also frequently wear leggings under my dresses :)

I think your recent weight loss is the key to why you are struggling.

Can you show us a few pics of some of the new bits you bought?

I think you are likely either

  1. Still buying clothes that hide you as this was the default when you were larger or
  2. You have bought some nice bits but can't "see yourself" in them or match them together as again you're stuck in the mindset of being larger than you currently are.
NotJustACigar · 03/11/2021 20:10

Wfh - joggers and a nice jumper with earrings and necklace to look nice on zoom
Lazing around the house- joggers and a fleece
Out and about shopping, having a meal etc - jeans and jumper or a nice top and trousers
Work in the office - shirt dress and boots or nice jumper and trousers

abstractprojection · 03/11/2021 20:13

My go to is not that exciting but works for me

Leggings, jeans, cargo paints, lots of plain black t shirts and some other tops, trainers and biker jacket - this does everything

Then I have a load of dresses for days out, coffees and so on

Badabingbadabum · 03/11/2021 20:22

Jeans/ cotton trousers and a jumper/ blouse/ fine jersey.

Midi flannel or cord shirt dress, tights.

Plaid oversized shirt/ wool coat/ waterproof coat. Some kind of ankle boots or Docs.

Basically, I have found what Iike to wear! Luckily my office hasn't gone back to office clothes so my jeans and nice jumpers work everywhere.

AperolWhore · 03/11/2021 20:25

I live in jeans or dresses, I’d rather die than wear a pair of leggings!

I wear Jeans and jumper or a tee shirt and cardigan at home/running errands and dresses with tights and boots if going out for lunch etc

Dog walking is jeans, long country boots with a longline padded coat and bobble hat.

I invest in good fit jeans, a good coat and boots. The jumpers, tee shirts and cardigans are a mix of next, Cos, Lipsy and Mint Velvet.

AperolWhore · 03/11/2021 20:26

If I have to go to the office it’s a pencil dress or skirt and shirt and always high heels.

Badabingbadabum · 03/11/2021 20:32

It is very hard to find what you are comfortable wearing after children. I had two dc in a couple of years and I just had no idea what to wear after that! I'm not a massive follower of fashion but all my pre-dc clothes looked wrong. I was a different shape too so my clothes fitted differently.

I found it helped to start simple. Find a cut of tshirt you like, a style of trousers or skirt that works for you, then build up from there.

I do. I feel a bit smarter in jeans than my usual gym leggings or joggers. I have also been wearing them to the office recently as no-one really dresses up for work anymore. Plus stretchy waistbands are not my friend as they let me think all is well.
