What is the youngest age you'd expect someone on Mumsnet to be

Of course I know you can be 18 and on mumsnet but realistically what is the youngest age you would imagine someone being on Mumsnet is? If someone was 20 and a regular user would you be surprised at how young they were to be on the site using it regularly if they were not a parent?

Not really… I joined in (I think?) 2012 when I was a single 22 year old. I was just hooked on AIBU I think Grin and had moved past my last forum (The Student Room) on account of no longer being a student any more!

I am now firmly in the demographic as a 32 who has a toddler and is pregnant with her second, but I had a lovely 8 years on here in my 20s before I started TTC! I don’t think I’d be surprised at anyone’s age/sex/parental status on here.

Justmuddlingalong · 31/10/2021 22:38

Lots of people use Mumsnet. It's not just for mums. Many of the thread's have zilch to do with kids or parenting them.

PiesNotGuys · 31/10/2021 22:39

I joined at 23

I’m now 39

bethabean · 31/10/2021 22:40

I was on Mumsnet at 19 as I need advice about my abortion etc. and I've stayed ever since! Now nearly 22 and 28 weeks pregnant though Smile

Sunshinealligator · 31/10/2021 22:40

Don't think theres an age I'd be surprised by... I joined when I was about 21 I think

PeachesPumpkin · 31/10/2021 22:40

18

VeniVidiWeeWee · 31/10/2021 22:40

Going from a lot of the threads about 9.

ssd · 31/10/2021 22:41

Well any age if they enjoy it really

HollowTalk · 31/10/2021 22:42

When my daughter was 18 and at university her gay male flatmate who was about 20 used this site a lot. He used to love the housekeeping tips! I assumed his mum was a regular here but I didn't know as my daughter never let me speak to him 😀

Heruka · 31/10/2021 22:43

Even younger than 18 is possible, I’ve worked with teen mums in the past and many of them would be sensible about seeking advice, I’m sure they would end up here.

TheDuchessOfBeddington · 31/10/2021 22:43

I think there are occasionally teenagers on here.

That being said, I started on here after my wedding, due to the fact that the wedding forums got a bit boring. I would imagine other people had the same experience?

Chakraleaf · 31/10/2021 22:44

I joined at 17 and pregnant

AdditionalCharacter · 31/10/2021 22:45

Early 20s? I was late 20s when I joined, now early 40s.

saltedcracklin · 31/10/2021 22:45

Would you be surprised if your teenage DS had a mumsnet account?

Wallywobbles · 31/10/2021 22:48

My 15 yo has had a thread on here. Trying to prove I was being unreasonable. Didn't work in her favour though!

Lessofallthisunpleasantness · 31/10/2021 22:50

@saltedcracklin he is probably spying on you to see if you moan about him on here to all the other disgruntled mothers of teens.

saltedcracklin · 31/10/2021 22:50

I do wonder sometimes wonder if there may be users of mumsnet who are under 18

OP posts:
saltedcracklin · 31/10/2021 22:52

@Lessofallthisunpleasantness I don't have any kids so that does not apply to me

OP posts:
immersivereader · 31/10/2021 22:52

Could be some under 18s tbh.

I'd be surprised if anyone was seriously using the site as an under 25 really.

I was 29 when I started 'using' Grin

Ancient 39 year old now, standard issue, two kids etc etc.

SarahAndQuack · 31/10/2021 22:55

I think I was 23 when I first stumbled in. I'm 37 now.

saltedcracklin · 31/10/2021 22:56

By being young and using the site I don't mean coming on to ask for advice for a particular situation but being a regular user who comes on most days to the site

OP posts:
bethabean · 31/10/2021 22:57

I'm 21 and come on Mumsnet everyday, multiple times a day and am a 'serious' user

FelicityBeedle · 31/10/2021 22:58

I’ve been on since 17 I think, lurking for a few years and then more actively. 23 now

FelicityBeedle · 31/10/2021 22:58

Oh and no kids

SpookyPumpkinPants · 31/10/2021 22:58

@saltedcracklin

Would you be surprised if your teenage DS had a mumsnet account?
Very

She's eyes rolly enough and often days... 'Let me guess... Mumsnet!' When I ask her something random 🤣🤣

Insta/tic tok/gabbing with her best mate who she's only spent the entire day with (almost all classes together) - the idea of her reading MN 🤣🤣🤣
