To eat a chocolate bar every day?

Just a normal sized one, like a twirl or crunchie. On top of a normal (relatively) balanced diet. How unhealthy is this really?

It's not something I'd do but if you're healthy, not overweight etc. then go for it

LubaLuca · 29/10/2021 13:21

Not that unhealthy.

Bookwormbitch · 29/10/2021 13:26

As long as you’re not replacing healthy food with chocolate then surely it’s not a problem? As long as you’re getting all the vitamins and nutrients you need, a chocolate bar a day won’t kill you.

eurochick · 29/10/2021 13:28

I do. I lived in Belgium during my formative years and daily chocolate eating was normal. I've been doing it for most of the 20+ years since I left and am still pretty healthy and have a normal bmi. I opt for good quality chocolate rather than twirls etc though.

Fluffy40 · 29/10/2021 13:33

When I was young I worked in London and bought four bars nearly every day! Chocolate was much cheaper then.

SapphosRock · 29/10/2021 13:34

I used to do this when I was rushing around all day, going to the gym etc.

Couldn't do it now.

How active are you?

Guacamole001 · 29/10/2021 13:35

Age 20 I probably did eat a bar a day. Now age 57 if I so much as looked at a bar daily I would be as big as a house lol.

Comefromaway · 29/10/2021 13:35

I eat a treat sized one most days. I couldn't eat a normal size one though.

whereisthekey · 29/10/2021 13:37

as long as it fits in with you daily calories / sugar intake etc then it's totally fine. if it's on top of everything then obviously won't be good.

Snowisfallinghere · 29/10/2021 13:37

I probably eat the equivalent of between 2-4 of those chocolate bars a day. I'm slim, healthy blood sugar levels, healthy all round as far as I know. I don't see a problem with it. It makes me feel happy Smile If I start putting on weight I either cut down a bit or do more exercise.

JustDanceAddict · 29/10/2021 13:37

I did when younger, but not these days,
Not that I’m that virtuous 😆

Couldn't as in 'because I would put weight on' or couldn't as in literally couldn't eat one because they are too big?

I eat something like a kitkat or penguin every day, sometimes two. I'm 41 and quite slim but I am fairly active. I don't think there is anything wrong with eating a chocolate bar a day if the rest of your diet is healthy.

eh, chocolate is still very cheap these days in the UK. If you go to Tesco and the big chains you can get a lot for a pound.

In the 1980's a Mars bar was 49g. They got bigger in the 90's but are now back down to 50-51 g I think. Other bars are similar although a few have got smaller like Twix
DrManhattan · 29/10/2021 13:40

I do probably 5/7 days a week and I'm slim

RaininSummer · 29/10/2021 13:41

No worse than having a few biscuits or a dessert etc each day really is it and plenty of people who don't need to lose weight do that.

mustlovegin · 29/10/2021 13:43

Dark chocolate would be healthier, but go for it if you enjoy it OP

Starcaller · 29/10/2021 13:47

Bloody love a Twirl!

If your weight's OK, it's absolutely fine. Life's too short!

amillionrosepetals · 29/10/2021 14:06

I am in awe of anyone with the ability to restrict themselves to just one bar a day.

muldersspeedos · 29/10/2021 14:09

I've just eaten 2 Goo heads. YABU to eat just one regular bar.

Goatinthegarden · 29/10/2021 14:11

Surely whether it is ok or not depends on whatever else you eat?

I don’t worry about eating things like chocolate or crisps if I’ve otherwise eaten lots of fresh, nutritious food and gotten some exercise.

If I was putting weight on from a daily snack, I’d assume it was too much and cut back.

I love these threads!
"Goodness, I couldn't possibly"
"Go ahead, but you'll be dead by 42"
"As long as you eat nothing else but lettuce, I suppose it's okay"

That's too weird. Chocolate is so cheap now as is all rubbish food that's half the problem.

Yes i eat chocolate every day pretty
