Masks at the Budget

SiblingStruggle · 27/10/2021 12:50

The tories are all masked up for the first time in ages in the House of Commons for the Budget. I'm assuming it's some "soft messaging" to prepare us for Plan B to come in very shortly.

Just get on with it already!

@SiblingStruggle

They should ever have stopped .

Mamamia7962 · 27/10/2021 12:55

I can't understand why people aren't wearing masks anyway. We all know cases are on the rise but for some reason people don't seem to be able to make decisions for themselves. They need to be told by the Government what to do. Why?

I wish I knew the answer to this. I have never stopped wearing a mask - to me, it represents some protection for me, my family, and for others around me. It seems an extremely simple thing to do.

But on the trains in the morning, I would say less than 50% are wearing masks now, and the trains are just getting busier. They clearly need to be told to put them back on again so that's why I think Plan B is necessary

Kier Starmer has tested positive and was in Westminster earlier before he knew so this will be interesting….

Ipadannie · 27/10/2021 13:02

Except poor Boris doesn't seem to understand that he needs to cover his nose too Hmm

VickyEadieofThigh · 27/10/2021 13:03

Keeping up the requirement for us all to wear masks would have been so easy and cheap - but Johnson is in complete thrall to the 'freedom of choice' brigade in his own party (with a fair bit of Wetherspoon-style "It'll hurt businesses!" thrown in) that he cannot even contemplate making a tough decision until it's forced on him.

I see he's corrected it now - someone probably nudged him and told him to stop being a prat

@Zandathepanda If only they'd had the foresight to remember THERE IS A PANDEMIC

Hopefully that will apply to more than just his mask...

Mamamia7962 · 27/10/2021 13:14

OP - I've continued to wear one too, but in my local shopping centre at the weekend I would say that 95% of people weren't wearing a mask, which really surprised me.

@Mamamia7962 wow that's a really low level of masks. Maybe I shouldn't think so poorly of the 50% on the train!

They're wearing masks because someone pulled them up on it during the press conference last week.

millymolls · 27/10/2021 13:23

Nope, won’t be wearing masks thanks

Zandathepanda · 27/10/2021 13:24

Rees Mogg isn’t wearing one ‘cos he’s dead ard. The great British spirit will protect him.

JingsMahBucket · 27/10/2021 13:25

Nearly 2 years in and people are still coming out with this guff.

I travelled from Scotland where mask wearing inside is still the norm down to England last week where basically COVID might as well had never happened. The difference in attitudes and basic respect levels is pretty shocking, and it's no surprise to me whatsover that England's rates are so much higher than up here.

Same here @SusieBob. We took the train down last Thursday and it was like entering the bizarro world. England really is screwing it up for the rest of the country. So selfish.

TBF I think even a virus would baulk at going anywhere near that twat.

Yes, noticed the uber pratt that is Rees-Mogg isn't wearing one.

Kazplus2 · 27/10/2021 13:27

Rishi was also shamed on the Andrew Marr show when he showed him a photo of parliament question time and no one was wearing a mask and they were all seated very close to one another.

Zandathepanda · 27/10/2021 13:28

I am watching the budget and noticed all 3 MPs behind Rishi Sunsk were fiddling on their phones and then suddenly they got off their phones and crossed their hands on their laps - I would have loved to see the text that must have pinged upGrin
