To say it's NOT "social piranha"?!

It's "social pariah!"

I've seen this written quite a few times now, all over social media, and it really tickles me Grin I'd love to see a piranha at a party!

Wondered if anyone else has come across this...

Hah! Not seen this mistake before, but I like how it's accidentally apt. I think I know a couple of social piranhas! Grin

Is that the opposite of a social moth?

PerkingFaintly · 18/10/2021 20:41

Ahahaha! Thank you, OP, that's marvellous.Grin Never heard that one.

Mind you, I think "social piranha" is bang on for certain people.GrinShock

JudgementalCactus · 18/10/2021 20:41

That's hillarious! Grin never heard someone say it though

MrsTerryPratchett · 18/10/2021 20:42

I think piranha are sociable aren't they? So it means the opposite!

PerkingFaintly · 18/10/2021 20:42

Also, will definitely be the piranhas you'll find at parties, cos the pariahs ain't invited.

Moonlaserbearwolf · 18/10/2021 20:43

That’s a good one!

PerkingFaintly · 18/10/2021 20:43

"... and you'll always find them in the fishtank at parties!"

FelicityBeedle · 18/10/2021 20:44

It’s also a joke in the IT crowd, could feasibly be a reference. I like the idea of it meaning the opposite since they’re shoaling fish

forinborin · 18/10/2021 20:45

I absolutely know someone who fits the description.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 18/10/2021 20:46

We certainly have a few 'friendly piranhas' at school...

Ilovepearjuice · 18/10/2021 20:46

Am I seriously the only one to have seen this? I feel like it's the new "chester draws"!

OP posts:
TangledUp789 · 18/10/2021 21:11

As mentioned above, they might be quoting Jen from The IT Crowd. Very well known quote. See also: ‘damp squid’. I personally think social piranha is a great saying!

MrsRobbieHart · 18/10/2021 21:14

Who are the 12% who think you’re being unreasonable??

Pungifries · 18/10/2021 21:15

Not seen this but might just start using it…it fits so many people I know!

BrightYellowDaffodil · 18/10/2021 21:22

One of the contestants on Drag Race referred to “getting the short end of the stick”. It’s a stick. Both ends are the same distance from the other one. This annoyed me more than it should have done!

bellabride · 18/10/2021 21:36

"Getting the short end of the stick" isn't a misquote, though.
Agree it doesn't seem to make sense.

MrsRobbieHart · 18/10/2021 21:39

It’s the short straw or shitty end of the stick. They’ve mashed the two sayings together.

JackieCollinshasnoauthority · 18/10/2021 21:54

It's a moo point.

MrsRobbieHart · 18/10/2021 21:56

Like a cow’s opinion Grin

anotherDayofThis · 18/10/2021 21:57

Someone once said to me their dd had ‘slept like a glove’ …..

I just had to keep telling myself not to laugh as I didn’t want the time feel bad but I thought I was going to wet myself

Chunkymenrock · 18/10/2021 22:04

It's not bloody restbite either! Respite.

BigYellowHat · 18/10/2021 22:05

Haha, never seen this. Really want to now 🐠 🐟 🎣

TurnUpTurnip · 18/10/2021 22:12
