Adele’s Easy on me grating on me

Anyone else think it’s a bit boring and not quite the ground breaking return to the spotlight we had hoped for? I know her material is quite formulaic and she definitely has a style but this is just so…meh. I’ve turned it off 30 seconds before the end each time I’ve listened to it because it just annoys me.

No doubt it’ll be a huge success and she’ll win a bag of Grammys and MTV awards but i think it’ll be because of who is singing not the song itself. I Just hope this isn’t the tone for the whole 30 album.

Yep, sounds like every other Adele song. Dull.

KnobJockey · 16/10/2021 20:00

Although it's not my cup of tea, I think she sings that song with every bit of emotion she was feeling when she wrote it.

AssemblySquare · 16/10/2021 20:01

It’s like every other boring moaning whiney shite song she has ever produced! I have no idea why so many people listen to that crap

ShepherdMoons · 16/10/2021 20:05

I've not heard it yet, I have always found her music very samey though. Loved the first few songs she did but everything afterwards very much similar.

I also dislike Ariana Grande although my 8 year old dd lives her music. It's all that breathy, nasally singing.

Hotcuppatea · 16/10/2021 20:07

I don't get the hype with her music either, but each to their own.

For me, she falls in to the same category as Sam Smith. They both could do with cheering up a bit.

DrSbaitso · 16/10/2021 20:08

I've heard it about three times now and can't remember a thing about it.

Absolutely. There’s enough depression in the world with a pandemic and other things, you’d have thought she could have done a happy song lol.

I think I quite liked it Blush

But I can't remember a thing about it now either!

Mrsmadevans · 16/10/2021 20:11

Can't bear it Hmm same old same old

PartyStory · 16/10/2021 20:14

I can’t believe people think her voice sounds good on it. She can sing beautifully sometimes but she lacks the proper training to sing effortlessly and sometimes ends up “scream singing”. This is why she had to have throat surgery and kept losing her voice. A properly trained singer can smile and make it look effortless and sounds a lot better.

DrSbaitso · 16/10/2021 20:26

She has lovely tone and is obviously a talented singer, but I don't understand why everyone says it's a one in a generation voice and stuff like that. You'll get an entire cast of better singers at any professional live musical. I don't understand what it is about Adele's voice, lovely as it is, that's supposed to be so unusual.

CatKittyCatCatKittyCatCat · 17/10/2021 16:48

I prefer her angry and vengeful than reflective mad pensive to be honest

Hemingwayscats · 17/10/2021 16:49

All of her songs sound the same except the first album, I liked a couple on there.

bluetoothroboticgrapefruit · 17/10/2021 16:51

Musical equivalent of beige.

PinkiOcelot · 17/10/2021 16:55

I’ve honestly got no idea how she’s thought to be so great. I haven’t liked any of her songs at all and have to actually change channel when she comes on the radio. Just can’t listen to her.

Kevinishot · 17/10/2021 16:57

She’s so overrated. It’s really boring, same old shit. Urgh. Don’t get the hype at all - I don’t even like her voice, she’s quite shouty.

Penistoe · 17/10/2021 17:17

Singing about a past relationship is her thing. It’s her only thing. She has a nice voice.

Snoozer11 · 17/10/2021 17:41

She married in 2018 and divorced in 2019.

How are we supposed to take this "emotion" seriously?

Fetarabbit · 17/10/2021 17:50

Yes I agree, she posted about it being a new sound and a new direction so was excited to hear something new, but it feels just like more of the same. I really like her voice but meh.

I know someone like you.
Campfirewood · 17/10/2021 18:00

I don’t mind it, but it’s not amazing and I think she needs to read the room a bit. Yes she’s been through heartbreak, but she goes on like she’s been through more than the rest of us. It’s a bit self indulgent.

ThePoisonousMushroom · 17/10/2021 18:00

This is the fourth thread I’ve read analysing her new song. Why are people so bothered?
I’ve heard it once, not a fan. I know lots of others like her music though.

I don't know if "bothered" is the right word, but she's a very popular singer and this song was very much hyped, so people are going to have a reaction. Even if the reaction was about how little reaction they had to it.

I listened to it again earlier and still can't remember a thing about it. It's absolutely forgettable.

Moonface123 · 17/10/2021 18:12

I don't listen to her music as l find her forever in victim mode, and it becomes dreary.
