So for work we had this get to know you teams online quiz and one colleague (male) used a jokey username for himself "Buster Hyman". Its made me feel all Envy(not envy) and defo have zero respect for him now as I think it shows poor judgement laddish behaviour. But am I'm being massively uptight?

I would have made a formal complaint about that, it’s harassment and sexist not to mention totally inappropriate in the workplace.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 14/10/2021 19:52

No, he’s grim.

Zarene · 14/10/2021 19:54

No, you're not being uptight. I would make a fuss about it.

SunShinesBrightly · 14/10/2021 19:55

He is both disgusting and immature.
I would complain.

nocoolnamesleft · 14/10/2021 19:55

Offensive sexist plonker.

SnackSizeRaisin · 14/10/2021 19:56

Ick

HouseOfFire · 14/10/2021 19:56

I'd be a bit Hmm in public, but at work?? Totally inappropriate

HairyFanjoBanjo · 14/10/2021 19:56

What a guy!Hmm

hapagirl · 14/10/2021 19:57

Gross. Nothing wrong with you, lots wrong with him.

AFuturisticalSound · 14/10/2021 20:00

That certainly tells you all you need to know about him, objective acheived in two words.

Franca123 · 14/10/2021 20:01

I would let his manager or my own manager aware that this happened in case there is a pattern. Personally, I wouldn't make a formal complaint unless there had been other concerning behaviour. However, it's important to note these things in case he's being inappropriate to someone and you're not aware of it. That person might need others to back up their version of events.

KateTheEighth · 14/10/2021 20:01

Sexist prick

Report him

GoingOutOutNEVER · 14/10/2021 20:02

He’s an idiot. I’d wait and see if comments like this were made again, hopefully someone told him to stfu

dreamingbohemian · 14/10/2021 20:02

That is VILE

I would complain

LonginesPrime · 14/10/2021 20:02

Gross, and definitely not appropriate at work.

Why should you be subjected to that kind of bullshit at work?

I'd definitely complain. Management clearly think it's acceptable (assuming they were on the call), which is disappointing in itself, so they need to understand that it's not.

SameToo · 14/10/2021 20:03

That’s disgusting.

Russell19 · 14/10/2021 20:05

That's vile, and I'm the least uptight person. It's just horrible.

Disfordarkchocolate · 14/10/2021 20:07

Oh that not good.

Having had to complete four lots of EDI training in the last week (in not being punished for abhorrent behaviour, I just have lots of little jobs) I would put in a complaint.

fluffythedragonslayer · 14/10/2021 20:11

Gross

Nayday · 14/10/2021 20:13

Wow Buster - the 80's is calling you back buddy! Knob.

FatAnneTheDealer · 14/10/2021 20:14

Totally unacceptable. Little you could do about it if you met such a user name in a public forum, but you should be better protected from that kind of stuff at work. File a complaint with HR if you are brave enough. (Sadly it will probably take bravery, and if, as it sounds like, you may be new (“getting to know you” exercise) it may be tough.

Even if you decide not to complain, please do not doubt that your disgust and contempt is entirely reasonable, and whenever you are in a more secure position, don’t forget to stick up, and complain, when newer, younger colleagues meet with this sort of misogyny.

TolkiensFallow · 14/10/2021 20:14

Gross

sbhydrogen · 14/10/2021 20:24

I've used silly display names for when I'm talking to my friends, and sometimes I forget to remove them for work meetings. Did that happen to him? Or did he do it on purpose?

It's pretty unprofessional.

Smurf123456 · 14/10/2021 20:31

Thank you all for the replies. We are all new to the company. I sorta jokingly called it out at the time. I think he's young enough early twenties probably thinks he is f*ckin hilarious.

Lynne1Cat · 14/10/2021 22:01

What a moron he sounds. He's either quite young and full of himself, or he's a perv. I wouldn't be happy with it.
