To book lots of holidays for 2022

I have a few things booked already for next year. My intention is to have a set budget and then book as many holidays/ breaks as time and money will allow.I Intend to go away every 4-6 weeks. and vary my holiday type, destination and form of transport-, for example I'm flying with dh to Rhodes for a week next june, taking the Eurostar to Bruges or Lille, (haven't decided which yet.) With a friend for her birthday early next year.I

I'm also doing three nights in Edinburgh in an airbnb, travelling by train with another friend.

I am enjoying the challenge of finding great deals, and making my money stretch as far as, possible. Having somewhere to travel to every six weeks or so really appeals to me. No young dc to think about anymore, and only our time and finances to consider.

Does anyone do this? Do you like to get bang for your buck and do more holidays, or have one of two big splurges?

That sounds lovely OP. Get some good travel insurance and go for it!

EcoCustard · 14/10/2021 20:06

Before DH and I had kids and dogs we used to go away as often as possible. We had a rough annual budget and would seek the best deals on lots of short breaks and further a field trips for longer. We had some amazing trips and a lot of fun and went to some great places here and abroad. I miss those days so definitely do it! Enjoy.

Go for it! I’ve got 3 holidays booked for next year and I’m taking my 5yo to lapland at Christmas! Can’t wait!
Mind you I did manage to squeeze a week away this summer and last. I love holidays!

Oldnews · 14/10/2021 20:31

I love this! Spent a year doing the same a few years back - made sure I was on a trip off some sort every month. This did include work trips that I could extend. Highlights included a weekend in Lisbon, one in marrakech, few days in upstate new york, train through the South of France,
staying in lots of different locations, cottage in Devon and a spa break in Bath.

Now I have a toddler so this year won't be quite that eventful!

I can't wait until the day I can retire and drive off in a motor home to wherever I fancy :)

Enjoy your amazing year!

I wish MN had a like button. Fairly new here, so don't know how to quote. Lovely to hear your stories. I always get travel insurance as soon as I book a holiday.
We also have a camper van, so will be including trips away in that. Did lots of weekends this year in Wales and Dorset.

Ah stop it! We used to do this pre baby. Loved having something to look forward to every couple of weeks. No more fun for us now with DD who’s 6 months old. Go and have a fab time and enjoy yourself!

billycorn · 14/10/2021 21:25

I’ve got three holidays booked for next year: January, late May/early June and September. I can’t wait!

PurpleFlower1983 · 14/10/2021 21:26

We are doing it, have started this year actually as I’m on maternity leave. Coming up is Center Parcs, Tenerife, Butlins, Romantic night away, another Center Parcs, Cruise, Florida, another cruise and camping!

PurpleFlower1983 · 14/10/2021 21:27

Oh and 9 days in my friends apartment in Spain!

GoodnightGrandma · 14/10/2021 21:27

I haven’t been away for over 18 months. Don’t know whether to risk booking flights for next Easter 🥴

bert3400 · 14/10/2021 21:31

We are Edinburgh for NY ( fingers crossed its better than London) and a week later, Barbados. That's for January......now what to do for February Grin

Lemons1571 · 14/10/2021 21:43

We’ve got 3 booked, all European beach type holidays. Bit stressful with teens who can’t be double jabbed, so god knows if we’ll actually be able to go / they’ll be allowed indoors anywhere Sad

Pedalpushers · 14/10/2021 21:45

I love doing more shorter breaks. I get bored being in one place for more than about a week.

I'm a bit like this! I tend to stick to 7-10 days in any one place.

Going to Canaries in October half term and at Easter, Northumberland in May and Majorca in summer. Love holidays and glad they are hopefully back!

PaperhouseLegs · 15/10/2021 09:02

I've got a few booked-one big one rebooked from 2020. Also have single jabbed teens here so will be interested to see what happens with regards to entry and tests

We've got four holiday booked for next year. 3 abroad and one in the UK. DS will turn 6 next year and travelling with him is so much easier now and we're making the most of it.

Very excited!

Aposterhasnoname · 15/10/2021 09:08

I’m doing this. London in January, Mexico in March, Tenerife In May, Greece in July, looking at Bali or Vietnam in September but that depends on their entry requirements changing. Then we’ll have a few weekends away in November/December for Christmas shopping. It’s so nice to be able to plan stuff again.

Yes do it! We are trying to fit in as much as we can next year too but we are bound by school holidays. We are having a honeymoon though definitely having postponed our wedding twice over two years!

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 15/10/2021 09:13

Has to be done. I plan to take my daughter (18) to the Canaries during Easter break, have 2 weeks in Barbados booked with husband for June (has already been postponed twice), and I'm sure we'll squeeze in another break later in the year. (Writing this from the balcony of my apartment in Spain 😎)

I really hope you get to go. Young people have really suffered over the last 18 months.
