Why the men’s Christmas jumper is £10 cheaper than the woman’s? IT’S THE SAME JUMPER!

To ask Boden…

YANBU!

MrsFin · 08/10/2021 21:37

Same jumper, but bigger. So men's should cost more really.

Kevinishot · 08/10/2021 21:38

That’s terrible! Email and ask them - I’d love to hear their defence (as an aside, it’s pretty horrible either way)

SmileySandwich · 08/10/2021 21:39

Good spot. Everyone should just buy the "men's" version

MeridianB · 08/10/2021 21:39

That’s terrible. I’d love to hear what they say.

Asleanna · 08/10/2021 21:39

That's really bad and thinking of it, this is not the first time I've noticed this. I've bought a men's Christmas jumper in the past due to it being cheaper but hadn't really connected the inequality until you've said it.
This is bad.

TwinklyBranch · 08/10/2021 21:40

YANBU but jeezo, at that price I'd want the jumper to come with a solid gold bauble or something. Grin

SoftSheen · 08/10/2021 21:40

In Mini Boden you can get exactly the same jumpers in age 13-14 for about half the price. Should fit a smallish woman...

Dixiechickonhols · 08/10/2021 21:43

That’s poor tweet them? Will be 70% off in sale.

doodlejump1980 · 08/10/2021 21:49

@SoftSheen alas kids size wouldn’t fit these norks 😂

Thomasina79 · 08/10/2021 21:49

That’s bad, yes bring it to their attention.

In general with boden I try and wait till their sales. Sadly, as larger lady, I have to be quick on the mark as the larger sizes sell out v quickly.

Another question for boden. Why make so few large sizes they sell out, whereas the smaller sizes are still available for ages and eventually can be bought at a fraction of the price. Surely this is not business sense?

mustlovegin · 09/10/2021 00:43

Those prices are ridiculous (for both men and women)

You can get excellent quality ones for £20 tops (e.g. at M&S)

CurlyMango · 09/10/2021 20:22

Wow. Fab spot. They should be ashamed of themselves.

BakeOffRewatch · 10/10/2021 20:37

Did you ask? I want to know too!

I got a £90 Boden Christmas jumper for £19 rummaging around a John Lewis store. It was one I really wanted and had missed out in my size in the Boden online sale, so I was so happy!

FrozenoutofCostco · 10/10/2021 20:39

Boden clothes are dreadful! They fade after one single wash (Fairy Non-Bio 30 degrees)

LaurieFairyCake · 10/10/2021 20:41

There will be tailoring or darts on the women's one we can't see?

I'd just buy the men's

Ericaequites · 10/10/2021 20:49

Sexism is the cause. Women’s sweaters don’t have darts. If there were more embellishment on the women’s sweater, it would make sense. The sweaters look identical except for cool ways.

TracyLords · 10/10/2021 20:50

£95 on a fucking Christmas jumper????!!!!????!!!

IfImLyingImDying · 10/10/2021 20:50

Pink tax!

bluedomino · 10/10/2021 20:51

It's the Pink Tax.

BakeOffRewatch · 10/10/2021 21:04

Knitwear doesn’t have darts in the sense that you sew it, but it is shaped for women, increasing/decreasing stitches, creating darts that way, so it is a different pattern to men’s.

BakeOffRewatch · 10/10/2021 21:06

If anyone’s interested … www.conniehester.com/knitting-bust-darts.htm

WoodchipNightmares · 10/10/2021 21:10

I've spotted New Look charging an extra £5 for otherwise identical petite garments Hmm If anything you'd think petite would be cheaper seeing as it takes up less fabric.

EishetChayil · 10/10/2021 21:51

Nearly £100 for a jumper??

DukeofEarlGrey · 10/10/2021 22:22

Ask them OP, loudly and on Twitter.

We all know it's stealth sexism in the form of the 'pink tax':
