To wonder what is going on with Hermes deliveries notifications?

I was expecting a delivery from TKMaxx. Yesterday I had three emails in a row from Hermes saying they'd got my package and would be delivering it on Sunday. This morning I got three texts within the space of two minutes saying they'd be delivering today between one and three pm. Hadn't delivered [as far as I was aware] by 3.20. Went on-line to see if there'd been an update. Said the delivery had been made at 1.40pm to my address. It gave a link to show 'proof of receipt'. I clicked on it and there was a photo of three large packages outside my front door. The problem is although I was at home all that time nobody knocked or rang doorbell, and packages outside my front door are clearly visible from the front road. Luckily they were still there.

Now, as I've logged on to the internet again, I see I've had eight emails in a row telling me my package has been delivered [I know]. Has anybody else had this with Hermes? In this particular case the delivery was quite high value, and it bothers me that they'd dumped it on the doorstep whilst people were at home.

I'm surprised you got them at all. I'm fed up of my parcels being delivered to the wrong address. I get a photo of someone else's mailbox with my parcel jammed in it but they refuse to tell me where they bloody delivered it to.
They now say it is lost and was never delivered - but I have photographic evidence that it was delivered!! They just ignore all correspondence now.

Whoever's mailbox it is have made a fortune out of me as they aren't returning the items so must be keeping them or selling them. Bastards.

fashionSOS · 07/10/2021 21:27

I had one today - it came a day early, so it was lucky I was home.

Got several messages many hours later telling me that they were going to deliver my (already delivered) parcel. Then an email really late.

I tried to opt out of a safe place, but I didn't have the option. Because it's not safe to leave parcels here, I want them to deliver to me, or come back, not randomly dump them, especially with the delayed notifications.

SmileySandwich · 07/10/2021 21:34

All the delivery drivers round here just knock and run. It was fine when it was lockdown but stuff has started going walkies again..

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 07/10/2021 21:36

I got three today from Hermes about a parcel. I'm assuming it'll turn up tomorrow.

Clarkey86 · 07/10/2021 21:38

I got loads today about my parcel too.

delilahbucket · 07/10/2021 21:44

Totally gone to pot over the last few weeks since our regular driver left. I had two parcels left on my doorstep that were stolen, one parcel sent last Monday and disappeared, one attempted delivery on Sunday, gone back to the depot, never to be seen again. The deliveries I have received have been through sheer fluke seen as they are incapable of knocking or bell ringing. All the missing stuff is from Next and it's like pulling bloody teeth getting anywhere with them. I've finally received a refund for one out of five products today. The stolen items I've been chasing for weeks and keep getting told they are investigating, and I need to sign a letter (that no one has bothered to send me). I stopped shopping with Next for a long time and now I wish I'd never gone back.

kitkatsky · 07/10/2021 21:46

Yep, I've had loadsa duplicate notifications for a single parcel today too

Davros · 07/10/2021 21:52

They are rubbish. I got messages earlier this week saying they'd tried to deliver and had left a card because I was out. Not true. Luckily the bloke who came the next day actually found the right address but was already trying to leave it with my neighbour as I'm not Usain Bolt getting to the door. I left terrible feedback

ceeveebee · 07/10/2021 21:52

I had a parcel delivered at 5pm, and have since had 4 emails telling me that my package will be delivered today??

itsnotmeitsu · 07/10/2021 22:38

@Davros > I'm not Usain Bolt getting to the door' Smile

With my delivery today there was no indication that they'd delivered, even though I was right there at the time of the drop-off; if they'd rung the doorbell. I only found out it had been dropped off by using the tracking link and seeing a photo of my front door with the parcels left there, clearly seen and accessed from a main road.

Yeah this is the norm for Hermes round here. I usually get an email to tell me it's coming and it's either arrived already or the delivery driver is literally pulling into the street, they may aswell not bother sending an email.

pelosi · 07/10/2021 22:52

Yes! This happened to me yesterday. Multiple texts saying my parcel will be delivered between 6-9pm, then 9pm got a text saying we tried to deliver but you weren’t home, even though we were home and house was quiet so would have heard them. And the proof that they tried to deliver? A picture of a grey something, totally unidentifiable.

Fifthtimelucky · 07/10/2021 23:02

I had two Hermes deliveries today. I had 2 texts and 2 emails to notify me of the time the first one would be delivered, but no notification that it had been delivered.

For the second delivery I had no text or email giving me advance notification of the time but 3 texts and 3 emails telling me it that it had been delivered!

Both deliveries were fine, but the notifications were very odd!

sleepylittlebunnies · 07/10/2021 23:07

My Hermes driver is fantastic, a lovely friendly bloke who knows I work nights so doesn’t ring the doorbell and leaves parcels in the porch. He knows when my DH is home as the front door is locked, he rings the bell and always waits for an answer.

Fl0w3ry · 08/10/2021 02:03

I had a parcel delivered by them a couple of weeks ago. Half hour after my time slot had expired I checked my email and the delivery photo showed they had dumped it and run on my outside steps which are narrow and steep - the parcel was marked 'fragile' as it contained glass and as the box was large, it was mainly balanced in mid-air! And it was in a place where anybody could have taken it. I was furious. I've also started receiving a lot of scam texts from them claiming to be trying to deliver parcels that don't exist.

notangelinajolie · 08/10/2021 02:10

Twice I've literally sat next to the window watching and waiting all day for a parcel and twice I've received a text from Hermes saying they attempted to deliver a parcel and no one was in. That is so not true and has really pissed me off because I've now been refunded for an item that is now sold out.

Gilmoregale · 08/10/2021 02:53

My heart always sinks when I realise I've ordered something that's going to be delivered by Hermes as there's a bit of a personality clash between me and the usual driver. I hate it when its Yodel as well. Both just often drop and run despite the fact I can see them coming up the garden from my desk (wfh). I'd really rather pay a little bit more and have Royal Mail or DPD. It's actually one of the reasons I end up using Amazon more often than I'd like.

HollaHolla · 08/10/2021 05:24

Hermes are appalling. I wish M&S would also stop using them.
Here, they keep delivering to ‘a neighbour’, despite me leaving notification of a safe place. The problem is that they never tell which neighbour, so I’ve got to trek around the street to find it. I’m fed up complaining every. single. time.

Londonnight · 08/10/2021 06:03

I wish companies would stop using Hermes, they are appalling!
The last parcel I had coming I got the update to say it would be delivered between 12 - 2. No show at all. Kept checking the tracking to see it was still coming between 12-2. This went on for over a week.
Another delivered by Hermes when I wasn't at home was a vacuum cleaner, they threw it over my back fence and said it had been left in my "safe place"
I eventually got my parcel 8 days late!!

Hermes communication are none existent.

FrankGrillosFloof · 08/10/2021 06:12

With Hermes, I’d just be grateful you got the bloody things.

IrishMamaMia · 08/10/2021 06:18

I had some similar issues with them last week. My parcel was shown as delivered when I was out but was still with the driver. Luckily they tried again. Much prefer Royal Mail and other delivery services.

SunShinesBrightly · 08/10/2021 06:24

I get normal sized parcels delivered to the nearest Hermes pick up point (in my case it’s a local newsagent). I can pick them up on my way back from work.
For larger items I pay extra for weekend delivery. It’s a pain but it’s the only way I get to see the items I have ordered!

MyOtherProfile · 08/10/2021 06:25

Hermes is rubbish. I was waiting for two deliveries from the same store, one due yesterday and one today. I got an email to say they would deliver both together on Friday. Got an email telling me the Thurs parcel would be delayed by 24 hours. All good. Then I saw a van pull up last night so went to the door.bthe man gave me my Thursday parcel. I said are you sure you don't have my Friday parcel too? Nope, definitely sure.

Then I got an email saying that as there was nobody home the driver had left my Thursday parcel in my safe place. My hands! He put it in my hands!

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 08/10/2021 06:31

We had load of problems with deliveries so bought a smart box for our front porch. It has a slot for letters and one for parcels and we open the front door of it with a key. It is now used for all our post and it is much safer.

SmileySandwich · 08/10/2021 06:53

I think its because they don't pay the drivers enough so they just do as many parcels as they can as quickly as they can.
