Two of the spindly spiders on the bathroom ceiling the past couple of days. I leave them as I believe they eat the others.

When I last went to the bathroom there was another spider. Not huge but a thicker one 🤮 Will the other two eat it? They were all on the claiming. Each of the soundly ones a bit away from the other one which was in the middle?

I have done raid but thought I might let nature take its course!

AIBU to assigns they'll eat it??

Crane flies don't scare me at all, I can pick them up and put them outside with my bare hands (brave!!)

House spiders terrify me because of their chunkiness and speed.

I was bitten by a false widow a few years ago whilst in bed. Woke up with a tiny itchy spot with a fang mark, it then swelled up and spread. Had to get strong antibiotics and cream off my GP who said it was a FW bite. Since then I've been scared of getting bit again. 🕷️🕸️🤢

You have three spiders in your bathroom op, your only option is to pack a bag and burn the house down 😂

Most cellar spiders can’t bite you as their fangs are too tiny to break human skin. Even if a massive cellar spider managed to nip you their venom is totally medically insignificant to humans and will at most cause a slightly itchy patch like a mosquito bite. But they avoid humans and if disturbed they spin on their webs to try to protect themselves. They’re reluctant to waste their venom on humans!

I’ve seen cellar spiders take down giant house spiders, tube webs (segestria florentina) and the steatoda family (false widows). They throw sticky web from a distance, then when the big spider is immobilised they inject it with venom and eat it, leading behind the husk.

Great pest control.

the huge ones running straight for uiu

They’re not running for you, they’re running for the darkness of your shadow so they can hide from you (or trying to get to the nearest dark place, which could be your shoe!)

Soo funny story (or really not funny)!

I'm bored sure they spider thats there today is the same one that was there last night!

I was thinking today that it doesn't seem as big and scary as it did last night. In fact I recall the one last night as being one of those thicker black spiders, not massive, but the one there today (along with one of the spindly ones) is smaller, not thick and slight crab like with the longer pincer bits at the front!

I think it's a different spider! So what happened to the other one? I'm hoping they ate it!!

Not sure anyone is reading but it would be nice not to feel I'm alone in this tbh so will update!

The first spider I saw (not counting the three cellar ones) was in the landing earlier and now I'm not 100% where it went. Possibly in the bathroom.

The second one, which I first mistook for the first one, is HANGING FROM A WEB AND BEING PULLED UP BY ONE OF THE CELLAR SPIDERS

DH has been away a few days and is due back today not a moment too soon

Confused

Good cellar spider boi! 😂

I currently have a cellar spider on the stairs having a hefty meal of hairy house spider.
I was also happy to read up thread about them helping timber frame buildings out by staving off the threat of invasion.

Remarkable little creatures.
