In the (bad) diagram attached, the owner of car one (bottom left) says car 2 at the top of the photo (top left) is blocking their drive...who is right?

Im regularly in car one's situation, and am on a main road so can make it tricky pulling out to go left at busy times. However, if car two is parked legally then there is nothing you can do if physically you can get off your drive - just need to take a bit more care/time about it.

c190 · 30/09/2021 17:00

The people who live opposite my childminder park their van on the road right opposite the childminder's drive, and it is an absolute pain to get in and out - thankfully the childminder has quite a wide entrance onto the drive. It is still possible, if awkward, to get out though. In your instance unless car one is a stretch limousine I can't see what their problem is. And if they called the police they would almost certainly be laughed at.

2lsinllama · 30/09/2021 17:10

Why is Car 2 not parked in front of the house they are visiting?

@Shoxfordian

What about the boat in the middle?
😂
noirchatsdeux · 30/09/2021 17:15

@c190 Car one is a small car...Car two is far further up the road, on the left hand side of it, than my diagram actually shows...my friend has to swing to the right to access the dropped curb when backing out anyway. He admits he quite often drives over the grass to do so. It's a cul de sac but the road is really wide....in normal circumstances I wouldn't blame him from being perhaps a bit pissed off but given the circumstances of the next door neighbour I think he's being a bit unreasonable. I also was wondering what the Police would do if called out...

noirchatsdeux · 30/09/2021 17:16

@2lsinllama There's already a car on their drive...the family has gathered together as the next door neighbour is expected to die very soon.

noirchatsdeux · 30/09/2021 17:18

Sorry that should be 'swing to the left to access the dropped curb'..

This. 100%

Dear God show your knobhead friend this thread.

BobLemon · 30/09/2021 17:27

Your friend is a complete flannel.

PeonyTime · 30/09/2021 17:29

My neighbours are car 2. It is a narrow road, and on a slight bend. Depending on exactly where they park, it is tight, or a shuffle to get into the drive. Pisses me off, but I'd never report them.

Helenluvsrob · 30/09/2021 17:30

Visiting terminal relative.

Isn’t that “use my drive and I’ll tell you if I need to go out “

Your friend is and arse.

Hopeisnotastrategy · 30/09/2021 17:34

Tel your friend very firmly to behave himself. Now is NOT the moment.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 30/09/2021 17:34

AttaGirrrrl · 30/09/2021 17:36

If there are three car lengths between Car 2 and the drive, that’s a terrible drawing.

Presumably this is a minor, one off inconvenience for your friend vs a very difficult time for the driver of car two. Your friend is being unreasonable.

ThreeLittleDots · 30/09/2021 17:37

There's a situation like that down the road from me. Residents in the same boat as car 1 don't like it as they can't see properly when pulling out. But I don't believe it's illegal.

ThreeLittleDots · 30/09/2021 17:40

Oh, just ready other posts - your friend is a dick and should know it's inadvisable to back out onto a road - he needs to back into his drive instead, and also wind his neck in whilst he's at it.

Ilovecharliecat · 30/09/2021 17:58

Has your friend no empathy or sympathy?😳 he’s a knobhead

HalzTangz · 30/09/2021 18:06

Surely car one is blocking their own drive, why aren't they on the drive?

Hard to tell from the drawing if the drive is open at both ends, but if not, from where car 2 is parked a car can easily enter or exit the drive

Fandangoes · 30/09/2021 18:08

pen and paper is you friend for your drawing - your pretty one is too difficult to understand but sounds like your friend is being ridiculous and heartless

PlonkyWillyWonky · 01/10/2021 10:18

I don't think he'd be my friend for much longer with an attitude like that

poorbuthappy · 01/10/2021 10:20

Let him the police. See how well that goes.

FabulouslyFab · 01/10/2021 10:24

@poorbuthappy

Let him the police. See how well that goes.
Double this. He’s an arse
xprincessxjanetx · 01/10/2021 10:26

Car 2 is not parked over the drive from what I can see and Car 1 can easily get out regardless and given the circumstances that you have mentioned I wouldn't be bothered at all even if Car 2 was partially over Car 1's drive.

thereisonlyoneofme · 01/10/2021 11:05

My friends ndn went ballistic when I parked my car literally hanging 3" over his drive. He had plenty of room to get his car in and out but was so territorial it was insane. Your friend is a dick
