My youngest son has covid. It transpired that a fellow class mate said his whole family had covid but he didn't have to isolate (he doesn't as he's under 18)

He then proceeded to laugh and joke that he would give them all covid by coughing on them. He coughed repeatedly on my youngest (year 11) and now, he's gone down with covid. We are a CEV household and my elderly mother took them all out yesterday. She's also CEV.

I'm furious. My son wears a mask, he avoids people because he knows the risks at home. For this classmate to laugh at him and purposely cough on him knowing his whole family were covid positive is disgusting.

I am so mad I want to report this as assault. If the young person had been over 18 it may well be classed as assault. Aaaagghhhh .

Please report this to the school.

YANBU, I would be contacting the school immediately, that is disgusting behaviour and he needs to be told it.

@BananaPB

Our school send a message out saying that during the pandemic, coughing on someone purposely would be treated very seriously
Yes, it would be a suspension where I work.

Am I the only.one who would be pretty annoyed someone purposefully coughed all over me even before COVID? Horrible.

INeedNewShoes · 01/10/2021 10:47

I'd definitely report to school.

It's not surprising though. Schools have always had kids who are absolute little shits to their classmates. Covid just adds a new string to their bow unfortunately.

I have a severe peanut allergy which was known about at school and had peanuts thrown at me on the school bus. Coughing over people deliberately and laughing about it has a very similar air about it.

I was on dented on duty this afternoon and a kid kept deliberately coughing, I got him removed and he had to sit in his own room, I’m hoping he’ll be in isolation on Monday, the pre covid type of isolation!!!

Umm detention duty!! Been a long week

GinJeanie · 01/10/2021 18:43

I'm sorry OP - that's awful and I'd be absolutely hopping too. I really hope the rest of your family stay well Flowers

^I agree with this. And I agree that you should report it to the school, absolutely.
