We’re definitely staying together in our house, but other than taking things to the venue to set up, what do we do?!

What did you do the day/night before your wedding?

Beetle76 · 26/09/2021 19:06

We had everyone who travelled to be there around for supper and a bit of a party.

Ragwort · 26/09/2021 19:09

Honestly can't remember Grin 30+ years ago but we had only just moved into our first home together so probably still getting organised and packing as we went on a two week honeymoon straight after the wedding.

Wombat96 · 26/09/2021 19:09

We had a meal out with all the people who had travelled. Not many of our friends had met before, so it was nice

myadhdusername · 26/09/2021 19:09

God mine was only last year but I can’t remember!! Concerning

nearlywed21 · 26/09/2021 19:10

We had a meal out with both sets of parents, then back to the lodge we stayed in and had a few quiet drinks and went through baby photos of bride and groom xx

LubaLuca · 26/09/2021 19:13

We went out for dinner, just the two of us, and did a lot of reminiscing Smile

samwitwicky · 26/09/2021 19:15

We had a party. Each.

And then a big fat Indian wedding the next day. Followed by a reception.

Exhausting Grin

I spent the day setting up the ceremony venue with my DH and family, then stayed in a lovely hotel with my bridesmaid where we enjoyed a great dinner and breakfast the next morning. Then we got ready in the morning and DH came over to see me for the first time and have a photo session in the grounds. Perfect.

Echobelly · 26/09/2021 19:16

Ours was out of town - DH and I stayed at separate hotels the night before, but we went to a pub with some friends and family who'd come up the night before. I had the mega-posh hotel room that we would have together on our wedding night to myself, he had the shared dorm with some mates, one of whom snored so loudly they had to kick him out and make him sleep in the corridor Grin

I went to my parents house, and all our family who had travelled came over, plus my bridesmaids and we had a cracking party! DH stayed at our house with his brother and his parents, they had a less exciting night dealing with a radiator that decided to leak rusty water all over the carpet

PermanentTemporary · 26/09/2021 19:19
  1. Finished sewing my wedding outfit
  1. Collapsed on the sofa after putting 4 month old ds to bed and chatted to dh
CoalCraft · 26/09/2021 19:25

I genuinely don't remember and it was only three years ago. I think we just had a normal day 🤷

CamomileCream · 26/09/2021 19:34

I stayed with my parents, and my bridesmaid helped me finish the cake

AliasGrape · 26/09/2021 19:42

I remember doing my bikini line with some veet! Wrote thank you cards for wedding party and wrapped their gifts. Put together activity packs for the kids. Packed the car with all the decorations etc, went to mother in laws to collect what was there then took it to the venue, DH came back to our house and spent the night on his own, he needed to decompress a bit I think. I stayed with my bridesmaid at the venue and a few of my family who had travelled and were staying the night before - venue was a pub so we had a meal there. I was secretly pregnant so pretended I wasn't drinking because I wanted a clear head the next day and was amazed everyone bought it - as I asked them afterwards, when have you ever known me to be that sensible?!

MrsSkylerWhite · 26/09/2021 19:46

I stayed at home (we lived together), my best friend joined me for dinner, drank lovely wine and we watched Truly, Madly, Deeply together afterwards, singing extremely loudly to “when You’re Without Love”. The next door neighbours finally banged on the wall at around 3am (sorry, neighbours, 33 years later 🥴).

Husband to be joined his best man and her wife who had flown over from the US for us at their hotel for dinner and spent the night there.

(Think my friend and I had the better time Grin)

Wagglerock · 26/09/2021 19:47

Finished all the last minute bits, got accidentally pissed by myself, DH arrived back drunk from the pub. We both had a cracking hangover on our wedding day. Happily married for 12 years.

Shellfishblastard · 26/09/2021 19:47

I had a takeaway and a glass of fizz with my bridesmaids, mum and sister, then early to bed…although barely slept!

Nat6999 · 26/09/2021 19:51

I stayed at my parents, my other half had dropped me off to get my nails done that afternoon on his way to work. I wanted to stay in my own house but my parents flatly refused to let me.

JoborPlay · 26/09/2021 19:52

We decorated the reception venue, had a takeaway and watched a film.

On the morning of the wedding we went and had a McDonald's breakfast before I dropped DH at his best man's house and I got my make up and hair done.

Foldinthecheese · 26/09/2021 19:53

We were staying at the venue along with lots of friends and family. I’m not from the U.K., so there were several people who had come over for the wedding. We reserved a room at a local restaurant and got pizzas for everyone. We also used the opportunity to give thank you gifts to our bridesmaids and groomsmen, and to thank everyone else for travelling such a long distance. It was a really lovely evening, actually. Kind of a more relaxed, intimate celebration before the big party the next day.

Shoxfordian · 26/09/2021 19:53

I had lunch with my parents at our favourite restaurant then I started in a hotel that night; dh was in our flat

UnalliterativeGeorge · 26/09/2021 19:54

I went to the funfair Grin then I watched F1 qualifying the next morning while getting ready

Cuddlyrottweiler · 26/09/2021 19:55

We were separate but we both had early nights

YouveBeenLittUp · 26/09/2021 19:55

We stayed at our venue with most of our guests (relatively small wedding and most of us stayed all weekend), had a few drinks and a lovely dinner. Was nice for everyone to meet and mix before the big day!

GiraffeClimber · 26/09/2021 19:56

Stayed separately, I went to the pub for a few drinks with friends.
