Tropic flaunting their successes

A really lovely lady in my village is an ambassador for Tropic, not only does she post her hints, tips and beauty advice on social media many times a day but she’s constantly displaying the freebies she gets from Tropic. These can be anything from a mug (!), mini fridge, away days,champagne, weekend aways, the list is endless. Clearly these are funded by her clients. The latest has got my blood boiling - next year the ambassadors are being taken to Shanghai and Singapore on an all expenses trip. I feel this is particularly tactless as the company strapline is ;

CREATING A HEALTHIER, GREENER, MORE EMPOWERED WORLD

If they are genuinely concerned about having a greener world why fly so many people half way across the world on a pointless freebie? As Tropic supports third world schools the money would be better utilised in investing more money and resources there.

Bet it’s BS to reel peeps in

FelicityBeedle · 23/09/2021 18:39

It’s all lies anyway, normally they earn the privilege of buying these perks

WheelieBinPrincess · 23/09/2021 18:41

Oh it’ll all be bollocks, fabricated nonsense. Don’t be so easily drawn in. No one is planning big far flung trips abroad right now for one thing.

KingsleyShacklebolt · 23/09/2021 18:44

It's not funded by her clients. It's funded by herself. Because it's a scamtastic MLM like all the other scamtastic MLMs.

NerrSnerr · 23/09/2021 18:44

I'll be very surprised if it's all expenses paid.

I have a family member who is a Body Shop area manager. She went to an awards evening the other week with so much talk about it being this black tie event etc.

There were some very carefully taken pictures but it was basically 8 women who booked out a church hall, set a table to look posh and had a disco with music from someone's phone. All of them got a plastic award.

PooWillyNameChange · 23/09/2021 18:45

So weird to boast about it. Can you imagine if the rest of us posted about our pay cheques and bonuses?! I would mute or unfriend her to avoid the nonsense.

viques · 23/09/2021 18:46

Ask her if she has watched the Netflix series “On Becoming a God” or the Amazon documentary LuLaRich . Then shake your head sadly and say how sad it is to see people being exploited by MLM and pyramid scammers.

HoldingTheDoor · 23/09/2021 18:47

Why have there been so many posts about MLMs this week?

NerrSnerr · 23/09/2021 18:49

The other thing thing that makes me laugh is when they boast about 'free training'. Just get a job and you'll get paid to do the training. It's not a brag if you're having to do it in your own time and not getting paid to do it.

Ashitaka · 23/09/2021 18:49

I have some magic beans if you would like to buy them...

I mean, if you believe the shit she's posting, you'd be a sucker for me too

Because people have lost the main, long-running thread?

isnt Tropic the one mentored by Alan Sugar ? whats his game with this

KingsleyShacklebolt · 23/09/2021 18:57

@HoldingTheDoor

Probably September is the perfect recruiting time for them. Whole lot of mums who have just waved their kids off to school and looking for work. Christmas looming.

Easy pickings to lure in with the fake promises of £££ just in time to treat the kids at Christmas.

I hate MLM. It should be illegal.

Isn't that blindingly obvious? The people at the top of the pyramid - so Alan Sugar - are the only ones making money.
Robin60 · 23/09/2021 19:04

I would love to hear from a current and/or former employee of Tropic and find out the ‘truth’.

OP posts:
user1471447863 · 23/09/2021 20:31

The truth? It's an MLM and its standard fake it till you (never) make it bullshit. Nobody is getting rich selling a bit of tat to their pal on Facebook every couple of months.
They are told to big up these never happening trips to lure in the desperate and gullible.
Recruiting your pals is recruiting competitors for the same limited customer base unless your skimming off them - which is exactly what happens, giving the corporate structure (scheme?) that lovely pyramid shape....

Sit back and know she's making sod all and going nowhere.

PooWillyNameChange · 25/09/2021 14:53

@Annoyedanddissapointed

The averages are.... Well...
So the top 10% make less than minimum wage? Or presumably they work few hours. Either way it's not very aspirational, is it?!
Introvertedbuthappy · 26/09/2021 08:48

I mean, it's clearly BS as China still has its borders closed unless you've had the Chinese vaccine, have a valid work permit, residency visa and complete the mandatory 2 weeks government quarantine and 1 week in the community once leaving the plane.

Absolutely no way are they doing that.

ithoughtisawapuddycat · 26/09/2021 09:27

Not an ambassador but know a couple of people who are. The China trip is not until 2023 and is all expenses paid. It is achieved through a points system and the points come from sales. One particular friend does get a lot of freebies but they come from her manager not the actual company - however in turn she provides things for the people she manages. My friend replaced her pretty high up full time job with Tropic but it is incredibly hard work. A 9-5 would be a lot less stressful. She works every day.

It will all come crashing down in the end and those at the very top will see it coming and get out in time.

Babochan88 · 26/09/2021 09:47

Why do the successes of others bother you to this extent?

who is that aimed at?

cos if its to the anti-mlm-ers. I'm happy to sell you some of my magic beans...

Define 'success'
HeathcliffItsMeOhKathy · 26/09/2021 10:28

I like quite a few of the Tropic products. A real shame it's MLM. You can buy straight from the website, which makes me feel better. I guess ultimately I'm still supporting a shoddy set up Confused I've lost track of the number of old school/uni acquaintances I've had to delete/block because of their hunbot messages (not just Tropic) 😂
