AIBU? To think I'm never getting my items

3 months ago I ordered some things from a friend who does MLM (i know, I know!)
She promised she'd give it to me when it arrived but every time I see her she says she's forgot to bring it. It wasn't a lot of money but that's not the point.
She's mentioned it a few times before seeing me saying she'll bring it and I'm always told "oh I forgot I'm sorry I'll bring it next time." When I spoke to her 10/15 minutes before.
AIBU to think she's kept it for herself or spent the money and I'm not getting my stuff? SadAngry

Ask her on social media so people know she hasn't given you what you have paid her for...
Let others know it's a scam and she is a thief!!

monkeysox · 18/09/2021 10:27

Yes ask publicly

Ughmaybenot · 18/09/2021 10:29

I’d imagine she’s spent the money, and has nothing to show for it at all but yes I would ask her publicly. It’s not ideal and may well damage the friendship but realistically, regardless of the value of the goods, she’s stolen from you, so the friendship is somewhat finished anyway.

Notimeforaname · 18/09/2021 10:29

Yep,the same as the posters above. Ask publicly. Or ask her for your money back.

Notimeforaname · 18/09/2021 10:31

Also,so many videos on YouTube about MLM'ers pulling all sorts of stunts like this. So wouldn't be surprised if she just used your money and doesn't have the item for you. She's not 'forgetting '

icedcoffees · 18/09/2021 10:41

Ask her for your money back and personally, I would cut off your friendship with her. She's scammed you.

You won't get your item.

rainydayandpumpkinspice · 18/09/2021 10:49

I have asked for my money back as they were Christmas presents and she said she'd give me the items the next day as she had forgot but when I saw her she had forgot. Angry
Without outing myself I can't name and shame publicly as I see her a lot but I have backed away from the friendship as I've seen another side to her. All this for a few Avon things it's ridiculous it's put me off buying MLM for life.

Can you not go over to her house to feign a visit as you’re in the area and whilst there ask for your stuff?

Is she still selling Avon stuff?

seaandsandcastles · 18/09/2021 10:51

Ask for your money back and if she says she’ll bring the items just say “no, that time has passed. I want a refund please.” And just repeat.

seaandsandcastles · 18/09/2021 10:52

Good. Nobody should be buying it.

MyPatronusIsACat · 18/09/2021 10:54

She has scammed you/stolen from you, but why on earth did you give her the money before you got your items? Confused

rainydayandpumpkinspice · 18/09/2021 11:00

Because she needed the money to order them? I don't know how it works. I've never done MLM in my life.. I ordered before from her and never had issues so I didn't think I'd have a problem as I trusted her. I was clearly wrong.

Definitely scammed you, I did Avon for a very short time and it's one of the only ones where customers don't pay upfront, they pay when they receive their items
happypet · 18/09/2021 11:05

Why haven't you been to her house to collect the items?

RJnomore1 · 18/09/2021 11:08

Oh dear, I’m one of the few who like Avon and I’ve been buying it for years and you pay on delivery she has definitely and deliberately scammed you.

icedcoffees · 18/09/2021 11:09

My cousin does AVON and doesn't take any money until she's delivered the items.

You've been scammed and I suspect you won't get your money back.

Tal45 · 18/09/2021 11:10

I wonder if she's got herself into debt doing these MLM's? People tend to feel obliged to buy things themselves to keep looking like they're doing well and meeting their targets. If it's not much money I would just write this off now and never order from her again - also a step back from the friendship.

pinkyredrose · 18/09/2021 11:11

Go round and ask for your items!

Therealjudgejudy · 18/09/2021 11:15

I agree with others...either go round and collect your items or publically ask for a refund

Jumpingintosummer · 18/09/2021 11:15

Three months is ridiculous. Tell her you will come to collect the item on X day.

WheresYourSnickers · 18/09/2021 11:17

Go to her house and collect them. However I suspect the friendship is over.

ImFree2doasiwant · 18/09/2021 11:27

I agree, go to her house.

Bywayofanupdate · 18/09/2021 11:31

Say you need your stuff so you'll go round at x time to collect. If you still don't get your stuff ask for your money back

Coronado2 · 18/09/2021 11:37

As others have said, I buy Avon as they sell some perfumes and eyeliners I like and I never pay upfront. I buy from a lady I don't know who drops the catalogue round and then delivers the items after and collects money. If I'm not here or don't have the cash she still leaves the items and just asks me to drop the cash to her house ( her address is on the order form). So literally the opposite of your friend!

Elieza · 18/09/2021 11:52

I’d be honest with her. Along the lines of
I’ve waited three months for my stuff. You keep ‘forgetting’ it so I’m inclined to think somethings gone wrong.

You’ve got my money. I either need it back or I need the stuff I ordered.

It’s a lot of money. Have you spent it on an unexpected bill and now you can’t afford to repay me or order the goods?

What’s the actual problem because clearly there is one and we need to get it sorted so I’d appreciate some honesty so we can fix things.
