Am going for the 1st time I'm Oct half term. Tickets booked for 3pm. Staying in Central London near London Victoria.
Was planning on getting train there but looks complicated?!
Looked into transport only options and it's £40pp and stops at 6pm so no good anyway?
What would you lovely mumsnetters advise?

You can get a bus from Watford Junction train station.

IsolaPribby · 14/09/2021 15:45

We drove there. Huge car park. I appreciate that may not be helpful.....

What does the website say about getting there?

FlumpsAreShit · 14/09/2021 15:53

Is it a long London trip or just for HP? If the latter would it make more sense to stay in Watford?

FlumpsAreShit · 14/09/2021 15:56

Otherwise all I can suggest is tube to Watford then taxi?

FlumpsAreShit · 14/09/2021 15:56

Just googled and there's a regular shuttle from Watford junction apparently!

Hopdathelf · 14/09/2021 15:57

Train from Euston to Watford, shuttle bus from outside the station.

sakura06 · 14/09/2021 15:57

You should be able to get a train to Watford from Euston easily (which is a short hop from Victoria on the Victoria line). There are then specific buses you can take there (or at least there were a few years ago).

Bouncebacker · 14/09/2021 15:59

It’s really straightforward - get the train to Watford Junction then follow the signs to the shuttle bus - but all this info is on the website: www.wbstudiotour.co.uk/getting-here/

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 14/09/2021 15:59

We travelled down from Newcastle to visit. If I recall we took the train/tube from Euston to Watford Junction, then the shuttle (its branded HP so you know which one) out to the Studios.

Shamoo · 14/09/2021 16:00

What @Hopdathelf said - it’s super easy

Dressingdown1 · 14/09/2021 16:03

Leave plenty of time to get the shuttle bus at Watford station, the queue can be long and you may have to wait a few minutes. We had to wait while 2 buses filled up and left before we reached the front of the queue.

Lindy2 · 14/09/2021 16:06

You need to get to Watford Junction and hop on the shuttle bus from there. I believe you do need to book a shuttle bus ticket.

From Victoria I would either go by underground to Euston and then up to Watford Junction.

Alternatively you could go from Victoria to Clapham Junction then from Clapham Junction to Watford Junction.

Clapham Junction is an amazingly busy station. Don't try and work out what platform you need. Just ask the staff, their knowledge of the platforms and train times is incredible.

MinnieGirl · 14/09/2021 16:09

It’s really easy to get the train from Euston.
If you are staying near Victoria station, get the tube to Euston, then a train to Watford junction. It’s really easy and the first stop I think, about 20 minutes.
When you exit the station at Watford junction, there’s a bus to transfer you. You pay for a return ticket. It’s beautifully decorated, and a great start to the tour!
I’ve been twice on the train and it’s no problem at all

bestbeforedateexpired · 14/09/2021 16:12

Where are you travelling from? What is this "transport only option"? Does this mean you don't really need to stay in a hotel in Victoria?
As others have said, it is very straightforward to get from Victoria to Euston to Watford Junction then book the shuttle to HP Studios.

IvySneezes · 14/09/2021 16:12

We got a cab from near Hyde Park to it. Bit of a luxury, cost us £40 about 6 years back, but worth it as was knackered from days being a tourist in London before we went to Watford.

bestbeforedateexpired · 14/09/2021 16:15

My goodness. Just looked up "transport only option" for HP Studios. What a rip-off.

MagentaRocks · 14/09/2021 16:15

Shuttlebus option when I went you had to have the correct money. No change given. We went from Euston to Watford. We

Justme10 · 14/09/2021 16:17

Unless it's changed since I was there you just get the train to Watford then you cross the road and get the bus straight to the studies, big purple bus like the knight bus Smile

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 14/09/2021 16:18

Really straightforward bus from Watford junction - which is a busy station with lots of trains.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 14/09/2021 16:19

It’s really great - have fun!

LeonoraFlorence · 14/09/2021 16:19

Also been wondering this OP. How long would it take in a cab? Any idea roughly how much it would be?

Geamhradh · 14/09/2021 16:39

Shuttle bus. Easy peasy.

44PumpLane · 14/09/2021 16:53

Yes to shuttle bus!

Also, when we went we spent 5.5 hours hand had to whizz through the second half.... If you are the type of people who are liable to want to read everything and see everything make sure you're there in plenty of time. As its the hols they may not let you in early but go for 2.30 or 2 and if they won't let you in early have a look at the shop

1lifeliveitright · 14/09/2021 17:04

Thanks. I've looked at the options but did wonder if there were huge queues for the shuttle bus at £3 return which is why some people pay £40 for the bus from Victoria?! If we do that it's £140 for a family ticket!
It is combined with a London trip so staying at Watford no good. I'm assuming a cab would be ridiculous also?
So if we do underground to Euston then West Midlands train to Watford which ticket option is best? Oyster or Travel card?
We will also be using underground other days also. It's a minefield! 2 adults, 17 & 11 yr old.

Hiya, we've just been 2 weeks ago. U can get the train from Euston Station to Watford Junction Station. Get the train that comes every 20 mins, otherwise it can take an hour. You can use your Oyster card and its about £6 or so. Whilst it's a train station, it also the last tube station too. (originally, this confused me and I ended up buying a train ticket at £20 return).

Once at Watford, you can use the shuttle bus, I think its free from the station to the Warner Bros studio, so long as you produce ur tickets. It's a double decker bus, painted with the Harry Potter sign all over it, u can't miss it. I don't know how often they come as I drove. However, it's only a 3 mile journey so you could grab a taxi from the station.

Hope u have a good time. U can easily spend 6 hours there, loads to see and do. They close at 10pm.
