Dev in Coronation Street.

What exactly is he. I don't understand his character. What do you suppose the pre requisite was to audition for his character? He's hilarious, bizarre and pointless

I haven't watched Corrie for about 15 years, but he always seemed to be aiming for a David Essex/Jeff Goldblum mashup

I hope nothing salacious! I hadn't even considered that, just thought the character of Imran was that of a very caring person. I did think he was probably not the right person to be defending because of being too involved.

Anyway, didn't he do naughties with ex wife the other day? That would, I think, be more realistic. I mean, Imran is not perfect, nobody is, but I couldn't see him having a 'relationship' with someone in his care. Kelly is a vulnerable young girl and that would be abuse.

He’s a bit of a filler character. A bit like Fizz and Tyrone were for years until the last few months when they’ve got a bit more screen time. I also don’t really get Shaun either. He’s just the angry, single gay who’s annoying and a bit of a shit actor too.

@YouTubeAddict Mine and DH's opinion about the bloke who plays Sean is that he must have something scandalous on one of the bigwigs in Corrie for them to keep him on. He is just a weird non character and ive heard he isnt a very nice person in real life either so who knows?

😂 I like that theory!

I definitely agree with all the posters who have mentioned Evelyn as being really great. Some of the things she says and does have had me in stitches.

I love Evelyn - have always thought Maureen Lipman is a great actress. I remember feeling so sad when she lost her husband. Gemma’s eating with her mouth open annoys the hell out of me! And Sean with his flouncing off! Dev can be really good but unfortunately a lot of the time his scenes are cringeworthy!

He’s ticking a box from (unfortunately) very limited options.

I’m amazed there hasn't been a real push for funding and promoting acting for British Asians in the last 20 years. They are massively underrepresented in the acting/drama world.

I'm no fan of Dev, but his 'new' son Aadi... oh my word. I know he's twenty in real life and I'm in my mid thirties but my god, that's a beautiful man. If I were a decade younger!

Jack and Max are just terrible actors though and I feel awful saying that about kids. But if they were the best at the auditions, who were the worst?

I agree - Adi is so good looking! Lucky Summer! I think Max’s acting is marginally better than Jack’s but as a pp said, if they were the best what was the worst one like?!

The actor’s a friend of my brother inlaw- nice family guy in RL. Though I admit his Corrie character creeps me out.

i absolutely love Dev. He is a brilliant actor and I don't think he gets enough airtime tbh. For some insane reason I have always fancied him even though I know his personal life is a bit suss.
He is part of what makes the soap a success.

I love Dev as a character. He comes across as an ageing lothario who has seen better days, but is still deluded enough to think he can pull someone years younger than him. I like the fact he genuinely cares about his children, but lurches between being thoughtless and going OTT when he realises he's let them down or got something wrong. I like his eccentric ways and the humour he brings to the series, which often involves jokes at his own expense. I think he's actually a pretty good actor, when given the chance to show his serious side. His dress sense is well weird though!
