It’s unsportsmanlike, IMO

Of course it's unfair.

He's a man, he has a man's strength and a man's muscle mass.

It's happening increasingly in women's sport. Women, even women who have trained and dedicated themselves to being the best in their field don't stand a chance against this sort of odds.

Absolutely soul destroying for sports women that this is being allowed to happen.

I don't follow sport of any kind but this really angers me.

SylvanasWindrunner · 12/09/2021 11:05

Male violence against women is now so mainstream it's a spectator sport.

Whatwouldscullydo · 12/09/2021 11:06

That part where the ref had to remove the arm from around the womans neck is chilling. Anyone who supports this, well there are no words.

Someone will get killed

Yes I think so too. I can’t believe how it’s allowed and even televised, and sold as tickets to a spectator event and people would pay to watch it Confused

I don’t understand how fans of this would find this fair or watchable, and even non fans of this sport must find this abhorrent

I think someone eventually will get killed however I still find it unacceptable in 2021 that a man striking a woman in the face in a professional and televised fighting match is considered normal

plod

Its happened before. Google fallon fox.

The woman suffered a fractured skull. Required 7 staples.

RonniePickering · 12/09/2021 11:20

Biological male beating a biological woman, of course it’s unfair. Completely wrong 😤

YetAnotherSpartacus · 12/09/2021 11:30

Completely unfair and awful.

Witchesbelazy · 12/09/2021 11:33

It’s unfair and awful but women that try and speak up against this get hounded and threatened I really don’t know how we can stop this

YetAnotherSpartacus · 12/09/2021 11:34

It's also obviously really dangerous.

Willow231 · 12/09/2021 11:35

So basically a man beating up a bunch of women to get to the top? How fucking proud he must feel Hmm

Hounded and threatened…by those who think it’s fair for a man to compete against a woman in a fighting match?

bumblingbovine49 · 12/09/2021 12:25

Some of the comments on that tweet are saying it is ok if the woman choses to fight as she is accepting the risk Shock. So the only way she can not be beaten to a pulp by a man is to not compete . A great way to ensure no females don't compete in the female category and it will of course be their personal 'choice '!

This, Google Laurel Hubbard and Rachel McKinna (now called Veronica I think). Cheats cheats cheats. Fortunately Laurel Hubbard didn't get a legal lift at the Olympics but s/he still did someone out of a place in the NZ squad. The governing bodies should be ashamed of themselves.

Absolutely.

But d'you know what, he probably does feel proud because he's a 'woman' now and he's fighting other women and winning.

Moreover, his 'womanliness' is being endorsed by the sport's governing body.

Bloody insanity.

plodalong12 · 12/09/2021 13:13

@Whatwouldscullydo
@lockdownmadnessdotcom

I was aware of Laurel Hubbard in the Olympics however I did not know that men thinking they feel like women extends to a televised sporting event where a man punches a woman full force in the face repeatedly, and legally.

Totally unacceptable.

DismantledKing · 12/09/2021 13:18

Total madness that this has become acceptable.
I can’t see this thread lasting long in AIBU though, MN will shunt it off to somewhere else.

Newrumpus · 12/09/2021 13:21

The Taliban are not the only ones who are making it very difficult for women to play sport competitively.

Booknooks · 12/09/2021 13:24

No it shouldn't have been allowed. Some have been saying that as she agreed to fight a transwoman it's fine, but realistically, if she had said no she would be branded a bigot, a transphobe and her career might have been over anyway. Women who have worked really hard to get where they are in their sport shouldn't have to be making decisions like that, as to whether they're happy to fight a biological man. I just hope stuff like this pushes it to the fore for people who have thus far been unaware.

I think it’s in the correct forum i am seeking opinion from others to see if I am BU to think this event should not be allowed in televised sport.

Igmum · 12/09/2021 13:30

I think it's the correct forum too. This is vile. It isn't sport. Some vile misogynists are paying to enjoy watching a woman being beaten up by a male bodied person. Whoever is responsible for setting this up deserves to be sued
