Weighted Blanket

LongDuckDong · 09/09/2021 12:33

My anxiety is really bad at the moment and i have been recommended to try a weighted blanket. If I base it on my weight then I want to order a 9kg one but the brand I like the look of only has a 5kg one.

Does anyone have any experience of these and can advise please?

I wouldn't go for 5kg. I have 8kg and it's great. Mine is a cheapo one from amazon just to try it

SalsaLove · 09/09/2021 12:53

I love my 8 kg one. It helps with anxiety and sleep.

eleanorsos · 09/09/2021 12:54

@LongDuckLong Not sure what your budget is but I recently bought the 9kg Simba Orbit one for DH. It's pretty pricey but he finds it calming, the weighting beads don't all collect at one end and it's easily washable which is a big plus. He hasn't been using it long though so can't comment on long term effects!

JSL52 · 09/09/2021 12:55

I love my 9kg one from John Lewis. £100

The weight is more important than the brand.

Get a 9kg one. They're game changers!

Can u ask how you wash these. Do u put a cover on it as you would a duvet.
I do bedding twice a week and this is what puts me off.

I have it over my normal duvet so no b2b contact.
lubeybooby · 09/09/2021 13:15

definitely go for correct weight over brand, lots of brands do them I'm sure you'll find one the right weight

I love mine so much

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 09/09/2021 13:21

I have the heaviest Simba Orbit. I think it's 9kg but can't remember. It's the best thing I've ever bought.

TheWoleb · 09/09/2021 13:25

There really really isnt much of a difference between brands. The weight is what matters, not the name on the label.

DS2's came with a cover that it zips into around the edges.
Rupertpenrysmistress · 09/09/2021 13:33

I have a 9kg amazon about £70 I love it. Agree it's the weight that is important not the brand.

Returnoftheowl · 09/09/2021 13:36

I've got a Koalas blanket and I love it!

PawPrintsInMyPansies · 09/09/2021 14:14

My DD and I bit have the Kudd.ly one. We love them and use them every night.

I would recommend them.

Iwantitthatway · 09/09/2021 14:32

I have really bad anxiety, and had been really struggling to sleep so bought a weighted blanket last week, and it’s been incredible! I got a 9kg one from Amazon for £34ish and I’ve had no issues :)

IARTNS · 09/09/2021 14:38

I have a 7kg from Amazon it was about £25. Absolutely brilliant. Have it over my duvet so not worried about it needing washing regularly.

N0PE · 09/09/2021 14:40

I have a 6kg one and it's too heavy! Can't lift it, turning over is like a weightlifting exercise, and my hips hurt in the morning. Such a waste of money Sad

Toddlerteaplease · 09/09/2021 14:47

I've got one. But I find it too heavy to move when I'm sitting on the sofa with it!

I have the pink one of these. They have non-fluffy ones too. I also bought one to try for anxiety, and didn't really rate it, until I slept all night under it. I don't remember waking up once. Longest stretch of uninterrupted sleep I'd had in a long time.

KilledByWitches · 09/09/2021 14:55

OP I have several of these:

They are absolutely brilliant and extremely cheap. I have the 6kg Silver and purchased 2 others for my DC's. £17 each and about £20 with P&P. They do them in teddy fleece now as well which is VERY tempting.

Haha snap!
Theworldspinsonmyhead · 09/09/2021 14:58

We have the kudd.ly one and love it. Goes in the washing machine unlike the Amazon one.

billy1966 · 09/09/2021 15:31

Bought one for my eldest who's sleep had deteriorated.
Excellent buy.
8 kilo one.
Weighs a tonne!
He loved it last winter.

notanotherjacketpotato · 09/09/2021 15:33

Mines the cheap 8kg one off Amazon. I love it. The beads don't go to one end because it's lots of little pockets. I think I'm was sub £30.

It's not washable but I have it over my duvet so it doesn't need to be

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 09/09/2021 15:37

Personally 5kg is fine for me as I find it is too much for my joints when it's heavier
