Was I in the wrong?

Currently positive for Covid and self isolating.

I went shopping last week and one of the bags split in the boot. Started my period this morning and realised my pads must have still been in the car so put a mask on and went out to get them. Car is maybe 20ft from my front door and the street is always very quiet.

My next-door neighbour came into his garden to shout at me for being outside. I was in my garden at this point and didn't have the energy to argue so just came inside.

I don't think I did anything wrong. It wasn't for a frivolous reason and I was outside for maybe a couple of minutes.

Your neighbour shouldn't be shouting at you. He isn't the covid police. Just go and get your pads. If he shouts at you again either ignore him or explain you need something medical from the boot.

dementedpixie · 07/09/2021 14:45

He's bonkers
You are allowed out into your own garden/onto your own property

KrisAkabusi · 07/09/2021 14:45

Yeah, he's being a dick. Ignore it.

MrsRobbieHart · 07/09/2021 14:47

The only thing you did wrong was to pay him any heed. Should have just ignored and gone to your car.

QuestionableMouse · 07/09/2021 14:52

I did go to the car - he was being a dick when I was on the way back. Normally I'd have given him a short shrift but I just don't have the energy today!

You did nothing wrong.

Ignore the wanna be Covid police

AryaStarkWolf · 07/09/2021 14:58

of course YANBU, what an asshole

QuestionableMouse · 07/09/2021 15:00

Thank you! Feeling quite vulnerable atm and it shook me up! Normally it wouldn't bother me.

Ahh ok. I thought it was on the way to the car.
takealettermsjones · 07/09/2021 15:04

Get a deck chair and go and sit in your garden 😈

girlmom21 · 07/09/2021 15:06

You're allowed in your garden...
how does your neighbour know you have covid though?

cloudyrain · 07/09/2021 15:08

My adult DD has just finished her 10 day exclusion for having tested positive for COVID, apart from the few days she felt rough she has been doing jobs around her house, including going out the front to the bins and being in the back garden, hanging out washing and cleaning things.

She lives in a normal terraced street.

Brollypackedforscottishholiday · 07/09/2021 15:09

Personally I would sit in the garden and cough a lot...

Dillydollydingdong · 07/09/2021 15:12

He would have got a rude gesture from me!

QuestionableMouse · 07/09/2021 15:16

I was talking to the Morrisons delivery guy through the window yesterday and dick neighbour was in his garden.

Kindlethefourth · 07/09/2021 15:16

Why does he know you have tested positive?

PeeAche · 07/09/2021 15:17

A bit of this lovely sun would be very healing, OP. I agree with PP and think you should head out to the back garden to bask.

If he asks, just explain politely that you have both Covid and a heavy period at the same time. And isn’t life a real bitch sometimes.

I might also be tempted to follow this with a cough and over the top adjustment of my underwear. All while maintaining eye contact. But that’s probably a bit much.

QuestionableMouse · 07/09/2021 15:20

@Kindlethefourth

Why does he know you have tested positive?
He overhead me talking to the Morrisons delivery guy yesterday (through the window).

"Sorry, I can't answer the door because I'm Covid positive. Can you please just leave it on the step?"

OP posts:
PeeAche · 07/09/2021 15:23

When I over heard my neighbour saying they had Covid, I popped a note through the door with my number and the offer of errands / supplies. It’s just not civil to have a pop at someone about it! He doesn’t sound very nice at all!

RacistAngst · 07/09/2021 15:34

I agree @PeeAche.
I would do the same.

QuestionableMouse · 07/09/2021 18:33

He's really not. This is just one thing in a long list of how he's a twat.

Go into your garden at night, collect all the slugs and snails you can find, and lob them over the fence.

takehomepay · 07/09/2021 19:01

Tell him (from your garden) that if he shouts at you again you will tell the police he is harassing you.

Imnothereforthedrama · 07/09/2021 19:16

Next time I'd tell him to mind his own business.
