How long it took you?

I lost 5.5 stone 3 years ago - took around 10 months - big weekly weight losses for around the first 4 months then averaging 2lb/week thereafter from memory.

As ever, that was the easy bit. Keeping it off is the difficult bit!

Purpleguitar · 06/09/2021 22:15

I lost 5 1/2 stone in 15 months through calorie counting and exercise. Now maintained for 3 years.

Dixiechickonhols · 06/09/2021 22:25

8 months to lose 5 stone to target with slimming world in 2018.

Sittingonabench · 06/09/2021 22:42

Not quite there yet but 4 and a half in 18 months and now a healthy BMI - so happy!

GiveMeAUserName123 · 06/09/2021 22:44

4 stone, took a year and half.

GrandTheftWalrus · 06/09/2021 22:46

I lost 7 stone. Went from a 24 to a 10. Took from 2013 to 2015. Maintained for over a year until I had my dd and went on the pill. I've now put back on 3 stone and I'm raging about it. But currently 4 months pp so I'm going to start working on getting it off again soon.

cunningartificer · 06/09/2021 22:47

Four and a half stone over a year or so. Aiming for more!

AnnieJ1985 · 06/09/2021 22:50

Currently 4 stone off since mid Jan, aiming for 5.

I eat whole food plant based, don't count cals etc. I avoid snacks between meals though

Justilou1 · 06/09/2021 22:56

I lost about 66kg or 10.3 stones according to google. I think it took about eight or nine months, but I was on a really restrictive diet. I have permanently changed my diet so it doesn’t creep back. (Have also gone through the menopause in that time, so high danger period!) It’s intimidating at the start, but over time you begin to see it as treating yourself.

Mooey89 · 06/09/2021 22:59

4.5 stone in a year.

sheusesmagazines · 06/09/2021 23:33

5 stone took a year

Lovinghannah · 07/09/2021 07:32

Would people mind sharing how they did it? I have binge eating disorder which doesn't help but I feel if I had a regime to stick to it would help. Slimming world doesn't work for me as I am not good with free foods. Low carb helps lessen binge eating but I don't n't lose weight

sadsack987 · 07/09/2021 07:44

I lost 5 stone over a year which included an awful bereavement. Lost half a stone a month for the first 6 then it took ages to lose the last 2 (and stalled a bit due to said bereavement).

Regained a stone when I went back to 'normal' but then hovered there for 5 years or so. Peri menopause, covid and stress has seen me regain 2.5 stone since jan and I am miserable tbh.

I used my fitness pal and didn't have treat days except on birthdays. I'd eat what I wanted within my allowance. I very very rarely went over it even by a little so consistency was the key.

Booknooks · 07/09/2021 07:46

I lost 6 stone in just over a year, I was quite surprised how the small weekly losses added up over time. When I started I just had targets for the week though, it felt too overwhelming to say I want to lose that much and create a deadline that created even more pressure.

fat13 · 07/09/2021 07:48

About 6 months but I still have two more to go and that’s taking forever. I’ve hit a very frustrating plateau.

That's amazing! Well done!
Justilou1 · 07/09/2021 08:13

Thanks @RazorSharp… was extreme measures. Had health issues to contend with. Diet was hardcore and I won’t spell it out as it was medically prescribed. (It was healthy though.)

BrisbaneandGone · 07/09/2021 08:16

I've lost 5.5 stone, took around 9 months by simply cutting back i.e. smaller portion sizes, limiting takeaways to once a month, no crap between meals, and exercising more - nothing excessive, just more walking

myBumJuiceSmellsLikeRoses · 07/09/2021 09:30

6 stone somewhere around 15-18 months but I can't exactly remember.

linerforlife · 07/09/2021 09:38

5 stone in 3.5 months doing a VLCD.

2typesofjungle · 07/09/2021 09:58

5 stone in 9 months - 1200 cals a day, minimal carbs and minimal processed sugar and a boat load of will power.

CookPassBabtridge · 07/09/2021 10:19

I lost 9 stone in 9 months and kept it off, going from 20 to 11 stone.

Effinell · 07/09/2021 10:36

Just over 10 stones in 12 months going from 21st 6lbs to 11st 3lbs following Slimming World (Green days on old style plan). That was 11 years ago. I'm currently 12st 2lbs and my body doesn't want to let go and get under the 12st mark again so I've made my peace with it for now.

Sneakycrab · 07/09/2021 10:37

As a slight variation it actually took me 5 years to lose 5 and a half stone going from 16 and a half down to 11. The first stone was pretty quick but the rest I did very slowly only because strict diets don't work for me. I seem to rebel against myself?!
The good thing is that I have managed to maintain this weight for over a year and a half which seems positive. Ideally I'd like to lose another stone and a half but we'll see how that pans out. For the most part I'm so much happier with what I see in the mirror these days.

hollyberrytree · 07/09/2021 10:57

Can I ask all those that replied - do you have lose skin?

I'm the wrong side of 50. I don't know if my skin would bounce back.
