Watching the documentary on HBO..wtf

OP posts:
southeastdweller · 05/09/2021 22:31

I believe Dylan believes what happened happened but to me Allen is innocent. There's just no evidence.

I thought it was a shit documentary, tbh. Very one-sided.

But a child wouldn’t knock anything about the things she described, unless something had happened surely

I believe she was coached as a child by Mia ‘mother earth’ Farrow to lie and she now believes those lies.

@southeastdweller But what shoot others observations and the psychiatrist reports? Just the way he was with her

OP posts:
ChequerBoard · 05/09/2021 22:57

@southeastdweller is very over invested in believing Allen's version of events.

Other people's opinions are just as valid. I believe the judge that apologised to Dylan and told her that her case was one that had stayed with with him all these years....

endoflevelbaddy · 05/09/2021 22:58

The real crime profile podcast episodes on this documentary are really good - offer a lot of insight.
He wasn't exonerated. He was never tried for it. It's amazing what powerful white men in Hollywood can get away with 🙄

Nightsaredrawingin · 05/09/2021 22:59

I believe Dylan as a child, so very sad

How’d you figure I’m over invested?

ChequerBoard · 05/09/2021 23:02

@southeastdweller every other post on both threads about this is yours constantly pushing the myth that WA is a the victim here

dayswithaY · 05/09/2021 23:33

Dylan’s body language to Mia is distant?

Yes, I feel that their relationship is strained. Mia didn't protect her from Allen when the early warning signs were there.

Klinkerbell · 05/09/2021 23:49

There will always be those that twist themselves into knots to try to absolve rich high profile offenders of any blame even when their victims are children. It always makes me think of Whoopi defending Polanski, "It wasn't rape rape!" This was after he was convicted of the drugging and rape of a 13 year old and fled the country.

@ChequerBoard That’s no myth. Allen is a victim and so is Dylan. You don’t like reading that, though, so you? That I believe Allen is innocent?

Maybe try reading some of the articles posted on the other thread.

Payproblems · 06/09/2021 07:30

The soon yi surely crosses a line but its not awful? As pp said it was a blended family, different adopted dad's coming and going.

It's the Dylan part that's the awful heartbreaking part and how Dylan voice got lost in all the trauma of the divorce etc. Its very sad and awful.

lljkk · 06/09/2021 07:46

Soon-Yi Previn describes how she got together with WA. He says he should be the poster-boy for #MeToo.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 06/09/2021 07:56

She was going to see him on his hotel in her school uniform and after she left the housekeeper found condoms. That's more than crossing the line.

I watched it expected to find Mia Farrow completely bonkers but I found her very credible and believe Dylan.

SpidersAreShitheads · 06/09/2021 08:31

This is an interesting read - it's Soon-Yi's perspective. I have to say that I find a lot of what she says hard to believe and her version of events isn't backed up by anyone else. I think her memory of her childhood has been coloured by the acrimony and she's repainted herself as a hard-done victim and Mia as the out-and-out aggressor.

I don't think you have to believe that Mia was utterly perfect to still have grave concerns about Woody Allen, and to think that Soon-Yi has been completely brainwashed.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 06/09/2021 09:50

Oh wow ,that article is really grim.

I'm sure I've read Woody always insists she came on to HIM and made the first move.

I didn't realise their children were adopted.

ChequerBoard · 06/09/2021 10:09

@southeastdweller I've read plenty about this thanks. And I can't believe that anyone who has can come to any other conclusion than that WA is a vile abuser.

He thinks it's OK because these young girls (Dylan and Soon-Yi) are not his natural children.

He's right up there with Roman Polanski on the list of privileged white males with disgusting behaviour that people bend over backwards to excuse.

I judge them both harshly plus all those sycophants that continue to work with them.

I agree, I did a complete turn around after watching the documentary ,interestingly so did my Father who is the biggest Allen film buff ever. He rang me up and said he could never watch another of his films again,I couldn't either. All so wrong.

Queenoftheashes · 06/09/2021 10:55

He’s clearly a grotesque old perve

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 06/09/2021 10:56

I think that is along the lines of what my Father said!
lljkk · 06/09/2021 11:11

The more I learn about SYP & read her words -- the more I like her. I think we might be similar personalities. That SYP was feeble minded & easily led is MF's narrative, refuted by SYP. SYP comes across as very strong willed to me.

The fact that household members are so divided about what really happened to Dylan is enough to make me know that people like me could never come to a firm conclusion based on public information.

ManifestDestinee · 06/09/2021 11:15

Only Ronan is his son, really

There is no chance Ronan Farrow is Woodys son. He is the spit of his real dad.
