Colour scheme. Too much?

What are your thoughts on a half lounge / half playroom with this colour scheme. My husband thinks there's too many colours but I'm loving the green, coral, mustard colours which we'd use in accessories / rug / artwork and then neutral painted walls. Thoughts and any recommendations? Thanks.

love it!!

Wheresmrpenguin · 31/08/2021 21:27

It's lovely. Mixed with scandi decor and beiges, it'd be nice.

Noshowwithoutpunch · 31/08/2021 21:27

Really nice

seeingdouble2 · 31/08/2021 21:28

I like it Smile

IWasBornInAThunderstorm · 31/08/2021 21:29

I like it. Makes a change from all the grey and white you see.

Cadent · 31/08/2021 21:30

Not for me, but I have terrible artistic vision.

seaandsandcastles · 31/08/2021 21:31

It’s definitely a more feminine colour scheme which is why he might not like it but I think it’s cute Smile

I thought it was an unusual light shade until I zoomed in lol.

It’s not massive so not going to be really in your face, nice colours.

Nice!

I really like it, especially with the second lot of pics

I really like it

There is no such thing as “too many colours” or “too much” in my book, for me those tones in your photo are all pretty muted/insipid and with “neutral” walls (beige?) won’t really look that colourful at all. To me. But I favour a maximalist, bright and deep tones, adorned, embellished and more is more approach.

So personally I’d say go for it and don’t hold back!

BUT….it’s all about personal taste isn’t it? All that actually matters is both you and your partner enjoy the space you live in.

Ikeameatballs · 31/08/2021 21:41

Lovely, it’s really fresh to the eye.

pinksquash13 · 31/08/2021 21:42

Thanks for the feedback so far. It's so helpful to hear other opinions rather than my Mrs-Hinch-home-wannabee husband's.

I'm now a new follower of the hash tag #scandihome!

Can anyone help me find a complimentary rug please? I love this but wish it had greens instead of blues as I've already got a gorgeous green lamp and some green cushions I want to keep.

It will totally depend on how you do it. With plenty of neutrals too it could work really, really well, but if it’s likely to be quite a messy space (you did say half playroom!) and you have too little neutral, your DH’s fears may come true.

pinksquash13 · 31/08/2021 21:45

@LemonViolet thanks for feedback! I'm not particularly brave with design but trying to be more so. I doubt all decisions and find it hard to put pieces together. I end up searching for things that don't exist. Anyone get that? You lot are already helping to cement my decisions.

That’s my colour scheme in my open plan bungalow and I love it . The walls and sofa are white and the floors wooden to keep the neutral base , the pictures , curtains , cushions , ornaments , plant pots etc in the 3 colours . It began by accident with some cushions and 3 plant pots from Aldi with orchids in and took hold . I love it !

perfectasalways · 31/08/2021 21:58

pinksquash13 look on Wayfair for a rug. I have just done my livingroom in not dissimilar colours with the exception of the coral. Found a beautiful rug at Wayfair that brings everything together.

Beautiful desert colours. Very popular here in SoCal.

I think that the colours on the basket are all very “in” colours currently (or at least ubiquitous in magazines, shop displays and on Pinterest) so there’s a risk you’ll get fed up of them as they date and it’s more difficult and more expensive to have to replace everything rather than just signature items. Beyond that, and if you don’t care about things dating or replacing them, they’re fine.
