Been isolating for nearly a month......

Haven't left my house apart from urgent medical appointments. They're saying my covid test is still showing as positive. I'm literally losing the will to live here.......a month of being locked in doors and they want me to do another 10 days. I don't think I can take much more of this. I'm supposed to be having a baby in a week or 2. I have so much to get ready and I can't get anything finished. I did my 10 days, then another. Then another.
I've had enough. I feel like I'm going to crack up. How much longer can they expect someone to stay indoors? I have dutifully followed all their advice and they want me to do ANOTHER 10 days.

Who is telling you that you have to isolate?

Seeline · 30/08/2021 10:02

Who is telling you this and why do you keep testing?

It's well known that tests can keep showing positive for 90 days after an infection. That's why you are advised not to re-test. Doesn't mean you are still infectious

Invisimamma · 30/08/2021 10:02

Who said you need to isolate? Do you have symptoms of covid?

After having covid you can get false positives on a test for up to 90 days afterwards.

HurryUpAndWait23 · 30/08/2021 10:03

I wouldn't be.

itsgettingwierd · 30/08/2021 10:04

Eh?

You have symptoms, you take a pcr and isolate. If negative you come out of isolation and if positive you complete the 10 days.

You then shouldn't take a pcr for another 90 days.

Where are you?

AnnieBanannie1 · 30/08/2021 10:05

Who's telling you this?!

Redcrayons · 30/08/2021 10:06

Who told you to carry in isolating?

vdbfamily · 30/08/2021 10:08

You should not re test. Once you have isolated once, providing you are feeling well, you can return to normal life.
Who is saying that you cannot?

Bagamoyo1 · 30/08/2021 10:15

If this is genuine then OP you are wrong to isolate, and whoever is telling you to is wrong. And why are you still testing?

Test, positive, isolate, for 10 days, go out again, don’t test again.
That’s it.
Some people show positive for months. It’s just the way it is.

LittleBearPad · 30/08/2021 10:17

Who is telling you to isolate? Are you in the UK

FlamingLama · 30/08/2021 10:21

I had to go back into hospital at the weekend for further problems (my liver has been showing up some issues with the pregnancy) and they did another test then and treated me like I had leprosy in the process. it's still showing as positive evidently and test and trace have text to say have another 10 days. I don't think my sanity can take any more of this!

I would ring 119 and query the second isolation. I did t think you had to isolate a second time within a certain period.

Doubledoorsontogarden · 30/08/2021 10:23

It’s not forever, do some exercise, eat well. Binge Netflix. I had to isolate for longer than this as I was the last person in the family to contract covid in February. You can get through this x

Theunamedcat · 30/08/2021 10:25

Tell the hospital you will test positive for 90 days and its pointless

Imgladyoulikedit · 30/08/2021 10:28

This is ridiculous, you do not need to isolate and if I were you I would go about my daily life.
This would never stand up in court IF you got caught as you aren't meant to test so soon after positive infection.
You can even get a covid passport thing on the app for a certain amount of time (180 days?) after positive infection and the advice is not to test again.
If you end up in hospital or anywhere else that requires a test you need to refuse to do one.
This is very much a "computer says no" scenario, how frustrating for you.
I hope them making you isolate continuously isn't impacting on the medical care you need.

Seeline · 30/08/2021 10:28

Yes ring 119 and discuss it with them. The government advice is not to re-test within 90 days of the first +ve for this reason.

FlamingLama · 30/08/2021 10:29

Double door......I missed my holiday this year because I had covid. I've watched more Netflix than I ever want to watch again in my life. I've not been able to take my kids out for nice summer days out.
I'm sick of the inside of my house and have stuff that just get done before my baby arrives......another 10days is likely to take me up.to my induction date.

BrilloPaddy · 30/08/2021 10:30

You're not tagged. Go out and do what you need to do - just leave your phone at home.

These rules are literally madness. That's why people are no longer taking any notice.

Lanique · 30/08/2021 10:31

Op I have an appt coming up and when they tried to book me for a PCR I said it would be invalid as I tested positive last month. The receptionist simply said 'fine' and don't book me. Why are you making this more complicated than it needs to be?

FlamingLama · 30/08/2021 10:37

I just did as I was told essentially. I didn't realise they were going to insist on constant tests every time I go in.......Saturday a consultant said to me "take it so it comes back negative and they'll leave you alone"

OP posts:
Lanique · 30/08/2021 10:38

Ah ok. Sorry op. Hope you get through this ok and good luck with the new arrival Thanks

FlamingLama · 30/08/2021 10:38

I will refuse any more tests, I didn't realise I had a choice in the matter.

OP posts:
llm24 · 30/08/2021 10:41

I work in test and protect , you can test positive for up to 90days for Covid you should not be taking any PCR tests UNLESS you develop any new symptoms

TSSDNCOP · 30/08/2021 10:44

Test and trace don't have back records. They will treat every positive case as though it is a new infection.

As with any automated system, human intervention sometimes needs to be applied.

In this case, call 119 and talk to a human who will ask if you have symptoms, look at the recorded history including a test required for a hospital appointment and update the system.

Sorry, you've had a crap time and well done for taking Covid seriously, but it's time to save your sanity now.

Mummyoflittledragon · 30/08/2021 10:45

Crikey that is grim. The consultant was wrong. I also don’t understand why you are being told to isolate.
