The bloke with the animal shelter in Kabul.

Refusing to leave unless he can take ALL of his 60 odd staff and ALL of his 200+ cats and dogs with him. Hmm Expecting the government to make special rules for him and his friends.

Getting people out - understandable. The Taliban aren't going to look kindly on people who have translated for the military, or "collaborated" in other ways. But staff at an animal shelter?

And as for the refusing to leave without the animals and making this all out to be the UK government's fault? For not falling over themselves to arrange transport for a bunch of ownerless animals nobody wants when there are human beings in fear of their lives?

What is this guy playing at?

YANBU OP. Any available flights should have human beings on. I'm an animal lover, but human life should be priority.

He was due to fly last week and not only has he put him self in danger but all the people now having to evacuate him and his staff out at this late time.

The minute he said he was leaving the UK government should have said 'OK who's next in line"

And where are these animals supposed to be housed? We already have a massive problem with over crowded cat and dog shelters. How many are going to survive the trip? who is going to pay for the quarantine when they get here?

Its insane that resources are being used for this when there is pregnant women, children and men who are going to get killed.

He and his people could have left the animals a week ago and travelled to the airport and gotten out then but they didn't.

Good for them. Animals matter too.

When people are deliberately trying to turn people against someone who is trying to do good, I’ll call them out for it. It’s unkind, what are your motives here?
And Pen has never claimed to have fully trained people as vets. So it’s just rubbish.

My motive is that I think the govt should stick to the plan of getting the most at risk out first. Don't like queue jumping.

As far as I'm aware the animals will be quarantined at Heathrow with costs covered by Nowzad.

If Pen had boarded earlier, on his own and left team and all the animals they were caring for he would have been called a callous bastard. He cant win.
Some people might have said that others wouldn't. You can't speak for everyone.

I would have thought an ex-marine would have better reckon making capabilities. He could have had his staff on a RAF flight and out of there days ago - this isn’t about the animals,It’s about one mans’ ego.
Genuinely at a loss as to why he thinks his animals should get priority over any human life in this absolutely shit show. He’ll be okay though won’t he? As a U.K. National the government will continue to try to get him out after this - but his Afghan staff? They’re screwed - if they don’t get out now it’s unlikely they ever will. The U.K. authorities have a duty to try and help U.K. nationals, but not the others in the coming months.

Do you think he should now get an armed escort to get him into the airport ahead of families who are literally living in human sewage for days with young vulnerable children?

I think could look like queue jumping in the sense that his staff seem to have got through the system very easily. OTOH, we are not really seeing how the processing system is working and whether it's like that for everyone who has a good claim to come

Also, putting in a special flight just bumps another flight back, so that looks like special treatment too, especially when the people could be slotted in to the existing schedule. The biggest possible planes keep the queue moving the most, sending a smaller one because someone awaiting evacuation can charter it just hold up the queue

Taking animals like taking cars or other freight, as they do not need either oxygen or a reasonable temperature during transit. If a space is safe for animals it is safe for human animals.
