The bloke with the animal shelter in Kabul.

Refusing to leave unless he can take ALL of his 60 odd staff and ALL of his 200+ cats and dogs with him. Hmm Expecting the government to make special rules for him and his friends.

Getting people out - understandable. The Taliban aren't going to look kindly on people who have translated for the military, or "collaborated" in other ways. But staff at an animal shelter?

And as for the refusing to leave without the animals and making this all out to be the UK government's fault? For not falling over themselves to arrange transport for a bunch of ownerless animals nobody wants when there are human beings in fear of their lives?

What is this guy playing at?

@ballsdeep

He's just tweeted asking the Taliban to let him through. This isn't going to end well is it?!
..but the post upthread, supposedly from someone there claimed “the Taliban would let him pass”

That’s what I meant by needing to know the whole picture…preferably an honest one.

TheQueef · 26/08/2021 08:33

He's tweeting the Taliban commander his parties exact location!
Knowing there is an active credible threat from IS, he's so reckless.

TeloMere · 26/08/2021 08:34

There are far worse fates for a dog or cat than being put to sleep calmly and quietly in familiar surroundings by someone they know and trust.

Yes I agree.

Surely anyone who loves their dogs wouldn't want to put them through such a potentially traumatic experience. It's not as if it couldn't have been foreseen.
They've been stuck in their crates already for over 10 hours suffering in the heat and chaos, and things are likely to get worse.

MakemeaCake · 26/08/2021 08:34

By drawing attention to himself in the way he's behaved, it's looking counterproductive.

He had the chance to leave along with his wife. His staff would be allowed to leave if they tick the right boxes, the same as all other Afghans.

As for kicking Ben Wallace, he's former military himself, serving in the Army for years, and if you listened to him last week he broke down when he described the limitations of getting everyone out.

The posts here that imply he is uncaring and callous are simply not right.

snowballer · 26/08/2021 08:36

Money talks for Erik Prince who is charging $6500 for a seat on a charter plane out of Kabul - I don't hear anyone yapping about how he's taking up a slot for profit...At least Pen would be taking extra people for free!

SueSaid · 26/08/2021 08:36

This is just so awful to witness, now we have this isis terrorist threat stalling everything.

We can only hope and pray at this very late stage the military manage to get him and his staff into the airport and out. Absolutely desperate situation but all so sadly predictable.

FloconDeNeige · 26/08/2021 08:37

I admire his dedication, but given that the security situation had rapidly deteriorated, all he can really do now is euthanise the animals and get the remaining people out. It’s too dangerous and there’s no time left.

Knittingupastorm · 26/08/2021 08:39

His voting record is not particularly caring and my opinion of him is not based solely on this specific situation.

He is a vile man. You believed that fake crying?Check his voting record, he couldn’t give a fuck about anyone. Uncaring and callous is right.

Wtfdoipick · 26/08/2021 08:42

So putting even more lives in danger and using up scare resources causing issues and affecting people elsewhere.

notimagain · 26/08/2021 08:44

That’s been an opinion expressed elsewhere on less cuddly feely forums.

He bigged up the ex-Royal Marine aspect, possibly for effect/leverage, put everything out in the public domain and down the road that may not be helpful to his employees.

He really has now got a duty to get all his employees out.

ancientgran · 26/08/2021 08:45

Slightly off topic but how has he trained all these vets? It takes years at university doesn't it?

MakemeaCake · 26/08/2021 08:46

All a matter of opinion. Just because you don't approve of his voting record doesn't make him vile. That's your opinion, not necessarily one everyone agrees with.

It wasn't fake crying. You can't fake cracking up like that.

Can you believe the outrage had he allowed animals out ahead of people?

The Afghans working for Pen F would have been 'processed' in due course, with all the other people eligible to leave.

KarmaStar · 26/08/2021 08:46

Did animals start this war?did they kill anyone?NO!
The animals are innocent in this.
I am 100% behind Pen on this and happy to assist financially.
Yabvvvu and shame on you for your lack of empathy.

He’s been there for 20 plus years.

I’ve followed the charity for many years, they are good and decent people who have been horrifically let down by the shambles of this withdrawal. I am desperately hoping they get to safety as the situation today sounds horrific.

MakemeaCake · 26/08/2021 08:47

@ancientgran

I doubt they are vets as we know in the UK.
Parker231 · 26/08/2021 08:49

The vets went to university in Kabul. They have been offered jobs in the U.K..

MakemeaCake · 26/08/2021 08:50

Maybe, but so have many other families from the UK who are still trying to leave.

Implying he is a special case because he works with animals is just ridiculous.

For a former Marine he's been rather stupid. All he's done is put himself literally in the firing line, and his staff, and his dogs, by making the enemy aware of him and his position.

Sorry but he's not exactly bright.

ancientgran · 26/08/2021 08:52

@Parker231

So they were trained at Kabul University but he is saying his charity trained them? Is that what you mean?

You never seen a film?

Can you believe the outrage had he allowed animals out ahead of people?

Should have all be evacuated weeks ago... when he first asked.

The Afghans working for Pen F would have been 'processed' in due course, with all the other people eligible to leave

The unpalatable truth you and other govt supporters wont answer is why this whole situation was not prioritised until it was far too late.

TheQueef · 26/08/2021 08:53

It's too late for his animals.
He's painted a great big fuck off target on his back by publishing his position, he's going to get his unit killed.
And all the civilian collateral who also didn't start this.

TheAstronaut · 26/08/2021 08:53

All a matter of opinion. Just because you don't approve of his voting record doesn't make him vile. That's your opinion, not necessarily one everyone agrees with.

No, Tory voters will love him. 🤢 Poorer people are just shit on these people’s shoes. So yes, he is vile.

It wasn't fake crying. You can't fake cracking up like that.

Of course you can. As Torys go, here ally is one of the worst.

The Afghans working for Pen F would have been 'processed' in due course, with all the other people eligible to leave.

Is that before or after the women would have been beat and raped? You can’t seriously believe the Taliban would have left them alone. 🤦🏻‍♀️
