I paid £12.50 for an extremely cheap school cardigan! I feel fleeced...

£12.50 for a cardigan with a school logo, £4.50 for a house colour PE top (also school logo'd). School coat £20 (I'm ok with that 1 - it's got stormshield).

Boys jumpers are only 8.50. Why am I paying more as she's a girl?

You paid more because it was a cardigan. Should have just bought a jumper.

I just buy cheap stuff in the school colours online, we don't have to have logos on our uniform thankfully.

Buttons
More stitching?

modgepodge · 23/08/2021 17:58

To be fair the effort involved in making a garment with buttons down the front is far more than a simple jumper.

catfunk · 23/08/2021 18:01

Surely you understand that a lot more work goes into a cardigan than a sweatshirt ?

DingDongThongs · 23/08/2021 18:01

I hadn't thought of the extra work. I have got a school logo'd jumper for a £1 off a good friend.

Your good friend sold you a jumper for £1?

MadeForThis · 23/08/2021 18:09

Logo cardigan age 5-6 was £12.
Logo cardigan age 3-4 was £15

Explain that?

DingDongThongs · 23/08/2021 18:11

We near the Yorkshire border. You'd get nowt for free... ever!

So the older they get the cheaper the cardi???

so 7-8 is £9

8-9 is £6

9- 10 is £3 ....
lol xx

Girls uniform is more expensive than boys.

DingDongThongs · 23/08/2021 18:15

I suppose girl's stuff is more fiddly and narrows at the waist. The M and S stuff is lovely so somethings are worth paying more for.

Ours was £6.50 for a cheap white t-shirt with the logo on for pe. £8.75 for a polo shirt for classroom.

Can't believe they specified a girl's pink blouse. That contravenes the equality act!

That is shocking PP - that a longer skirt prevents rape. If only!

My dcs school has logoed jumpers and cardigans...boys and girls wear both. Just get her a jumper

MulanIsChinese · 23/08/2021 18:19

Our school jumpers are £40 each plus a blazer that is £85!! Uniform for two cost £800 and I haven't bought shoes yet!

Comedycook · 23/08/2021 18:20

Just checked and the cardigan is more expensive. I guess more work goes into making them. My ds actually preferred the cardigan although wore both, as does my dd

Is that a private school?

That all seems extremely cheap to me compared to our costs and I can't see anything to complain about. Try 40e for each jumper and 50 for trousers....80e for a blazer....
MulanIsChinese · 23/08/2021 18:26

@Comedycook yeah it is, but just a little one, full of ordinary people, rather than a super posh one

Porcupineintherough · 23/08/2021 18:26

You are paying more for a cardigan. Is she not allowed to wear a jumper instead?

Porcupineintherough · 23/08/2021 18:28

@MulanIsChinese ordinary people with 8k+ child per year to spare. So def on the wealthy end of ordinary.

It probably is the fiddly bits that increases the price...

she can wear a jumper. It's just the other girls all wear a cardigan.

Really don't have 8K to spare per child. I've 3 so that's 24K to spare... if only lol! I'd be in Mallorca.

Uniform cost's £800. I'd say no. That's morally incomprehensible. Just NO. No is a complete sentence.

9k is a life less ordinary, dear. Look at the GCSE and A-Level passes this year. They only go to the private schools the 9 grades... #unfairresults
