Seen her speak on a feminist panel once - she went down the Not all men route. Was pretty unimpressed and she came across very badly. Not sure why she was even on this panel - the other speakers were real feminist activists from other countries (India etc). She is not very clever.

I haven’t seen the burqa tone-deaf horror show, but I have to admit to a schadenfreude giggle when I read the previous DM link from Facebook; it went on and on about how she identified as ‘queer’ which is a slur afaiac while the reporter straightfacedly listed her exclusively male previous partners, her heterosexual marriage and her child. Hard to imagine anything less ‘queer’ or indeed more self-satisfiedly, conventionally middle class.

“Queer” nowadays means “straight but I want attention”.

She’s a woman married to a man. Even if she’s bisexual (not what she has said) then she still doesn’t experience any discrimination in her current heterosexual relationship- women have always been free to marry men, have had a lower age of consent than same sex relationships, have not been subject to different laws for lewd behaviour, face no restrictions on blood donation, next of kin or inheritance rights.

Also - off topic but I read the link - when did 'queer' become acceptable?! I have friends who are gay and lesbian and I cannot imagine them using the word. It has vile connotations to me. I am 41 though so maybe I am just past it 🤷🏼‍♀️

The lack of awareness in posting the photo is amplified by her saying she was not aware of the news at the time! How is that possible? I'm sure she is a guest & hosts many dinner parties with similar minded & highly educated people where they pontificate re the worlds problems. Not that I'm stereotyping a certain type of North Londoner 😆

Queer used to be a slur describing gay men.

Nowadays it does mean something different. It’s an umbrella term covering a range of sexual identities which are ‘not straight’. It can include, but is not limited to, bisexuality, pansexuality, asexuality etc.

The fact that it is an umbrella term means it is often met with scoffing and eye rolling by homophobes who may be just about willing to tolerate gay men and lesbians, but won’t countenance the existence of non-straight people who don’t fit those categories and who write them off as attention seeking or otherwise illegitimate.
