I have bought a couch from DFS

Ok I know i will get abuse for this but I've had their couches in the past without any bother. Don't actually need a new one, just fancied a change. Anyway, i want to ask, can you see the difference between these two couches www.dfs.co.uk/pongo/pgo1zcpza - this is the one I have bought which was £799 when I bought it and this is a very similar one www.dfs.co.uk/orka/okr1zcpza?skuId=4856175&&origin=search - not a lot in it is there?

Are they any good? I just bought one from Next Clearance because so many people moaned about DFS, but some of the DFS ones look okay.

SandysMam · 15/08/2021 19:59

They look exactly the same!! Reckon you’ve got yourself a bargain there!!

Donatella · 15/08/2021 19:59

They are very similar, but I can definitely see the differences. Why are you asking?

perfectasalways · 15/08/2021 20:00

Theoldprospector I'm on my fourth without a bit of bother. The one I have just now is more or less the same as the one I am buying, just a different colour. It is so comfortable and has kept it's shape very well. Can't really complain about them to be honest.

However similar they look, there will be differences in construction and material quality.

Wassailer · 15/08/2021 20:01

I prefer the look of the one you bought TBH

perfectasalways · 15/08/2021 20:01

Donatella well if the one I am buying had been the higher price it's at now I would have bought the other one because honestly the differences are miniscule.

They do this to allow sales to continually run.
Minor detail changes to sell the next discounted sofa under a different product name

Onfire · 15/08/2021 20:02

It totally makes a mockery of the discount rules for shops as places like DFS and others always find a way around it

TheCanyon · 15/08/2021 20:03

Neither of them look comfortable though, the seat cushions look thin as hell.

perfectasalways · 15/08/2021 20:05

TheCanyon as mentioned above I have the exact same one, although in a sort of lilac colour - it is so comfortable that my son and his girlfriend have bought the same one as me. You could sleep on it without any issues.

Your fourth sofa in how long?? How frequently do you get a new one??

spongedod · 15/08/2021 20:07

Why have you opened your post with an assumption you will get abuse for buying a DFS sofa?

Have you any idea what abuse is? I'm sorry to bring the thread down but we really shouldn't be using terms like that out of context.

Phantom1 · 15/08/2021 20:09

DFS do Joules sofas. Anyone know if they are decent quality?

We bought a dfs suite 2 years ago. We’re both really fat gets and have 3 feral kids. It’s still absolutely as new.

My 4 year old accidentally got sharpie pen on it last month and I used the guardsman insurance to have them come out and clean it. They said if they couldn’t get it off they would replace the sofa.

I’m really pleased with it.

Though we’re in our 40s and have always bought second hand before, so we were bound to be impressed I suppose! We got the interest free finance over 3 years but hope to get at least 10-15 years out of it. We won’t replace it until it breaks.

Orf1abc · 15/08/2021 20:10

Joules sofas are just DFS with a higher price tag.

AlmostSummer21 · 15/08/2021 20:14

Also curious as to how long they last and if the fabric bobbles at all.

perfectasalways · 15/08/2021 20:16

rainyskylight - normally every 4 years or so, although I think I have had my current one for five. There is method in my madness - one of my sons moved out 5 years ago and had no couch. I fancied a new one and gave him my old one. Unfortunately he split up with his partner and is now back. Older DS has bought a flat and I'm doing the same thing - he is getting my old sofa. My other son - the third one has just bought a house with his girlfriend and her DF is buying the sofa for them and it's the same as mine. I decorate constantly and get really bored with things.

The arm on the left hand side is completely different. I don’t really get the point of your post. “Full price” they are a similar price.

OddestSock · 15/08/2021 20:18

We got a sofa from dfs when we bought our house 4 years ago. It's fab, used every day and still like new.

perfectasalways · 15/08/2021 20:18

AlmostSummer21 not a bobble in sight at all - was a bit grubby a couple of years ago because we knocked a wall down in the kitchen and there was grime everywhere. Got it professionally cleaned for £75 and it came up like new. No tears in it and no sagging. It might depend on the style you get - my mum bought one probably 7 years ago and I think it's a bit flat, although I know they will come out and refill them. Another friend has had hers for at least 10 years and it's perfect apart from cat scratches!

I have the same one in navy - ours is called something else though and was £799.

It’s exactly the same and was bought from DFS a couple of years ago

perfectasalways · 15/08/2021 20:20

The Joules ones seem to be exclusive to DFS now - they look lovely.

spongedod please accept my apologies for causing offence by using the wrong word. I didn't realise people could be so sensitive about a post about a sofa.

My mum bought a dfs sofa about 17 years ago. She gave it to me 11 years ago. Two kids later it's still in great condition.
