AIBU to leave DH on the sofa?

He has form for drinking too much and snoring like a beast. He's currently flat out on the sofa snoring very loudly.

We are on 'holiday' (read UK and far harder work with 2x DC than it should be), he's been like this on a couple of nights in bed and I'm so tired from poor sleep, let alone the kids early starts and long days.

WIBU to leave him fully clothed on sofa to sort himself out when he wakes in a few hours? I'm fed up of it quite frankly and I need to get to sleep in bed before he comes along!

Of course leave him on the sofa! Why on earth wouldn't you?

CoffeeBeansGalore · 13/08/2021 22:04

Leave him. Shove him out of bed in the morning when dc get up. It's his turn. It's your holiday too.

SophieHMS · 13/08/2021 22:04

Yes leave him to it. He sounds like a prize!

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 13/08/2021 22:04

crikey - yanbu

get to bed woman!

GalaxyGirl24 · 13/08/2021 22:05

Yep, deffo leave him to sort himself out and if he isn't ready in time in the AM Id be very angry, esp if you're on holiday!

MrsTerryPratchett · 13/08/2021 22:06

Of course. Is there another choice? Not in my world.

55BrilliantColours · 13/08/2021 22:06

Yes of course you leave him there.
His choice. His outcomes to deal with.

dancealittleclosertome · 13/08/2021 22:07

Put a blanket over him - more chance of him staying there till morning if he's at least warm. Wink

Marmalady75 · 13/08/2021 22:09

YANBU! Leave him to it.

goldpendant · 13/08/2021 22:10

You're all of course absolutely right. No spare blankets otherwise he'd have one. Sadly it's not a comfy sofa, expect he will be in later.

You aren't his dm and he isn't 5... Leave him and enjoy the peace and whole bed...

britespark1 · 13/08/2021 22:14

Mine does this and it really irritates me, especially as he used to say I had “snuck off” and left him! Snuck off in my own house to my own bed?! Does he expect to be carried to bed like a child?

goldpendant · 13/08/2021 22:16

He will give me the sad sorry eyes in the morning and ask 'was I snoring'?

Every bloody night. And sweating.

SaltedCaramelIcedLatte · 13/08/2021 22:16

Why wouldn't you leave him?

museumum · 13/08/2021 22:17

What else would you do? Surely you wouldn’t chNge him into pjs like a child??

goldpendant · 13/08/2021 22:22

In the past I've absolutely nudged him off the sofa and into bed, but usually when he's just nodded off, not when he's passed out drunk... his bed (sofa), he can lie in it.

Absolutely leave him, you are not his nanny. Why isn't he helping with the kids/holiday?

coodawoodashooda · 13/08/2021 22:33

This makes me so grateful to be single.

notsohippychick · 13/08/2021 22:38

Sounds hideous. Why is he getting so drunk? Sorry you are having a rough time. Holidays with kids are exhausting- he should be involved not getting drunk.

liveforsummer · 13/08/2021 23:43

YADNBU and hopefully with the alcohol he'll remain there despite the cold and discomfort. Pray for a peaceful sleep for you OP

liveforsummer · 13/08/2021 23:46

Previous comment was to absolve any guilt in the morning btw. Pleased you aren't replying now which hopefully means you are getting some decent sleep

Bingowingslikeashieldofsteel · 14/08/2021 00:15

I always leave my other half on the sofa if he falls asleep. I try to wake him up to go to bed but I'm not going to stand there all night!

At least you'll get a good nights sleep - I'm sure he'll cope!

NannyAndJohn · 14/08/2021 00:24

Has the lout been to the doctors about his snoring?

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 14/08/2021 00:25

Why on Earth would you contemplate anything else?!

India92 · 14/08/2021 00:26

Leave him and get some rest OP. Hope you manage to get some decent sleep
