What tiny things have you done to specifically annoy someone?

My Mil came from a pretty wealthy family and definitely saw herself as a 'cut above' most people.
So I always used to chop carrots into rounds when she came for a meal as I knew she thought it was 'common'; posh people always cut carrots into sticks.
It was a tiny thing but it gave me so much pleasure over the years.Grin
Can anyone beat passive-aggressive cooked carrots?

I'm totally convinced. OK, plebs officially have free rein to embarrass and stress out their partners' older parents because their own partners hold knives like pens and they themselves are the guardians of class gateways. It's all totally acceptable and definitely something Her Majesty
would approve of. Cor blimey!

They never choose my brilliant/witty/thought provoking contributions. Ever. It’s very demoralising. I mean, if you aren’t good enough for the DM what’s the point, eh? What .Is.The.Point .

@Rockmehardplace

If DH is annoying me, I transfer £1 into his bank account with references like “uraw*nker”. Petty but makes me happy.
Ooh love this!!! Grin

@randomchap

I spent hours fixing my cousins PC after he got a virus. Restored the data, ran some fixes so it'd run better. It took me about 4 hours. While I was doing it he didn't even offer me a drink or a thank you.

At the end of the job I wrote a little script that starts on bootup. It makes it beep at random times of the day. Drives him mad.

Oh i wish I had known how to do this! Some years ago I fixed my cousins PC (weird coincidence!) and same as you it took hours to remove the virus and get it working at something like a decent speed. She didnt offer me a drink, didnt get a thank you.

However what I knew about fixing her PC was self taught so I didnt know how to do anything fucking annoying to it. I was so tempted to send her another fecking virus when it was clear that a thank you or any form of reciprocation would not be on the cards. If it wasnt the fact that my cousin is a she and yours a he I would be wondering if we had one in common!

CautiousOptimist11 · 15/08/2021 19:10

My friend used to love running in a pretend panic towards her distant car, whenever she saw a traffic warden hovering near to it, even though she always had a valid ticket. Always perked them up!

We had an awful teacher at school who had OCD about his classroom being tidy, so we would often leave blinds at different lengths and drawers all open slightly etc

Finally, I'm a healthcare professional. Whenever clients used to sit in reception and finish their phone call, despite being called in for their appointment, I would start typing or researching something on my computer (with back to them) and continue long beyond when they finally came in to the room. So satisfying and better than sitting there like a numpty waiting for them to decide my time was finally important to them. Same for when their phone came out mid consult.

anon666 · 15/08/2021 20:16

@WolfFleeceSpotter that phone trick is genius and hilarious.

I'm obviously nowhere near creative or devious enough...... Yet....

RootinandTootin · 15/08/2021 20:46

When I worked in a cafe, rude customers used to get an extra big dollop of butter. It would be my worse nightmare. Petty but it felt good at the time

Thoranddrjones · 15/08/2021 20:48

@JetBlackSteed

I have a little device that turns off tv screens. Meeting rooms for presentations, at airport lounges (back in the old days), in other people's houses. Tis great.
Whatttt!!! What is this sorcery! How do I get one???
DdraigGoch · 15/08/2021 21:56

@coldseacoldears

My husband was moaning about pineapples being everywhere and on everything; ornaments, wrapping paper, pineapple themed lunchboxes etc. This started a couple of years ago and we now buy him a pineapple themed gift for every birthday, Christmas and Father's Day. It annoys him immensely and entertains me and my kids. His birthday has just gone and everything was wrapped in pineapple paper
I trust that when you come to sell your house, there will be a Mumsnet stunt pineapple on display?

@Egghead68

Do you think the Queen would try to engineer a situation to make someone uncomfortable over money or knife use

If The Crown is to be believed, yes. On that series she put people through the “Balmoral test”, deliberately trying to catch them out dressing inappropriately etc.

There's a lot in The Crown which isn't to be believed.

An African chieftain once drank from a finger bowl while at a diplomatic reception, not knowing what it was for. Queen Victoria did the same to spare the guest's embarrassment.

Notimeforaname · 15/08/2021 22:05

My friends partner used to hate my eyebrows. I never did anything with them or pluck them.
He'd try to remove the odd hair when doing my make up sometimes and kept trying to gently ask me if I'd do anything with them.

Every time I went to see my friend and partner..I'd lick my finger and ruffle up my eyebrows extra crazy before they opened the door and enjoy the look on his face Grin

Feelinglow27 · 15/08/2021 22:19

I slightly mispronounce my Exh's much younger new model's name. I act daft as if I'm just being ditzy. He has given up correcting me but I know it drives him insane. Grin

Howshouldibehave · 15/08/2021 22:23

Why was your friend’s partner doing your make up?! Grin

It's been answered a few times above. There are downloadable apps for your phone. It's just a basic one for all remote control app.
Labracadabradoodle · 15/08/2021 23:32

Pots of herbs on the kitchen windowsill, enough to block the view for the nosey neighbours.

1WildFlower · 23/08/2021 23:16

@HPLikecraft I'm rolling with laughter! I'm going to do this, I can just imagine my husbands face. 🤣

Rachelthegreat · 23/08/2021 23:34

I’m cabin crew and the majority of obnoxious passengers we get are female. Without being unprofessional I make a point of being very flirty, chatty etc to their husbands/male companions, irrespective of how old/hideous they are. It really riles 99% of the women who clearly get wound up but don’t want to create a scene.

Minor victory against only the most obnoxious women!

coldseacoldears · 24/08/2021 07:56

@NamechangeApril21

My husband loves country music and i hate it with a firey passion. I've set up our alexa that any time he asks her to play it, if he doesn't say please, she refuses and starts to play blippi songs instead. Once the kids hear blippi it's too late to correct his mistake as the kids go mental.
@NamechangeApril21 how do you do this???
sheenapunk · 24/08/2021 18:35

MIL was very hoity toity and extremely critical. Once, I was staying at her place and an episode of Keeping Up Appearances came on TV. She started getting very edgy, saying things like "some people have said I am like her". I ignored her discomfort and she had to leave the room.

Bit mean.

MrsFlinch · 31/08/2021 16:06

I’ve got another one.

When we first moved here Dd who was young at the time made a friend. I got to know her mother, not friends as such but friendly enough.
Over time I found her a bit odd tbh and there were a few issues that I had with her regarding my dc. Then I realised that she was starting to copy me. (Ie clothes, shoes, hair make up, house, stuff for the dcs etc) it was too much to be a coincidence. Id kind of stopped talking to her and keeping my distance by this point.

if I wore something in the morning for the school run she would turn up in the afternoon in something the same or as similar as she could get. (Same with hair style)

So to wind her up I would do school run in the morning, and knowing she’d try to copy my look at pick up, I’d change completely including jacket, shoes, bag and hairstyle before afternoon pick up. But of course I’d be in something different.

It took her a while to realise what I was doing and that she couldn’t keep up with me as I had a ridiculous amount of shoes/boots, coats and jackets at the time. Childish I know but was fun whilst it lasted!

She moved away not long after that!

sueelleker · 31/08/2021 18:53

You could have used a wash-out colour on your hair, then removed it before you saw her again.
