Food waste bin.

For ALL the years it’s been a thing I’ve said just carry the small one outside and empty it into the big one.

DH just likes to pick the bag up out of it.

Today it’s caught up with him and the contents have just spilt all over the kitchen floor.

Bin juice fucking everywhere.

I’m boaking. He thinks it’s amusing.

It’s defo LTB territory isn’t it?

yup

phishy · 08/08/2021 19:33

Is he going to clean it up?

LST · 08/08/2021 19:34

I empty the bags and take them outside too. I don't let them get full enough to split though!

girlmom21 · 08/08/2021 19:35

To be fair I pick up the bag too. Weirdly I didn't when they actually collected our food waste separately but we currently have to put it in our normal waste bin instead which seems like a complete waste of time.

I wouldn't LTB as long as he's a competent adult and is actually cleaning it up.

kaleidoscopeheartless · 08/08/2021 19:35

I also take the bag out of the bin and carry it to the outside bin.

WorraLiberty · 08/08/2021 19:37

I'd take the bag too

Singlebutmarried · 08/08/2021 19:40

I cleared it up as apparently it was my fault as he didn’t realise the bag was compostable.

The bag had bugger all in it be we’ve been out a lot this week so to the outward eye it’s fine. But I always carry the bin with its very useful handle outside and empty it out.

OP posts:
Lockheart · 08/08/2021 19:41

Why the fuck did you clean it up? How dense is he that he doesn't realise compost bags are compostable? And you can tell him I said that.

HitsAndMrs · 08/08/2021 19:41

But don't you tie the bag up?

My bin would be full of maggots if I didn't tie the bags.

I also carry mine out BTW!

Why on earth didn't you tell him to clean it up himself?

Doesn’t matter if you tie it up and the arse falls out of it though.

Yeah but you don't tie it up while it's still inside in the airtight container or you'd be using a new bag every time you had food waste
Singlebutmarried · 08/08/2021 19:44

I didn’t tell him to clean it up as it would appear that he’s in the ‘I’m right’ zone.

So it’s easier just to mop the ducking juice up and piss off to bed.

Sad act can sit by himself downstairs

He's a grown man who made a mess

You shouldn't have to tell him to clear it up Confused

HalloHello · 08/08/2021 19:57

I really don't think there's any need for so much anger over bin juice. He spilt it, he cleans it up. You don't need to tell him. He's not just going to leave it there surely?

MargeWhereDidMyFingersLand · 08/08/2021 20:01

YABU for cleaning it up, if a grown man makes mess the grown ass man can clean it. Who is right or wrong about bag removal/take the whole caddy is a seperate issue. Confused

YelloYelloYello · 08/08/2021 20:07

YABU for cleaning it up. You’re enabling his dick-headedness.

spongedod · 08/08/2021 20:09

I don't know why you cleaned it or why he said it was your fault, but I also don't know why you keep telling g him how to do the job. He does it his way, you do it yours. He makes a mess, he cleans it up. I don't have any involvement in how DH takes the bins out. Weird that.

Potatoy · 08/08/2021 20:09

I cleared it up as apparently it was my fault as he didn’t realise the bag was compostable. oh god he's one of them..

LittleBearPad · 08/08/2021 20:17

Sod that - I’d have walked out of the kitchen leaving him with the mess.

He hasn’t worked out that the bag on the compostable waste is compostable? Eh? Is he particularly stupid about everything or just the stuff he fucks up

WorraLiberty · 08/08/2021 20:24

I just mentioned this thread to my DH

He said "Jeez, if I didn't clean it up you would've rubbed my nose in it" 😂😂

itsgettingwierd · 08/08/2021 20:26

I've always just taken the bin bag.

If it's a heavy bin or leaked I put it in a garden tub and carry it out.

I live in a first floor flat though!

Your DH sound sensible and well trained!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 08/08/2021 20:29

I was with you until you became a martyr.

Plump82 · 08/08/2021 20:30

Yubu to have cleaned it up. But i have to admit its never occurred to me(and i really don't know why) to just carry the wee bin out the main food waste one. I always make a mad dash to it so it doesn't split!
