First time posting in AIBU, so please be gentle...

I have a rash. It's mostly on my breasts, and is getting worse, inspite of OTC remedies. I've had it for a couple of weeks now.

I figured it was probably fine to get a professional to look at it, so phoned my GP. "It's a pharmacy problem. You need to come and see our pharmacist".

No problem at all. But... since covid, the pharmacy in the practice has been dispensing drugs through the window into the car park. So I query if there's a private place I can see the pharmacist. "No - just come up to the window and pull your top up."

AIBU in thinking that examining a woman's chest in a car park, on a busy high street, is really really not okay?

I think I'm going to stick to OTC remedies for a bit.

Photo it strategically (so less embarrassing) show to pharmacy or send to gp

Motorina · 06/08/2021 13:18

Time not fine. Inspite of pre-reading. Sigh.

Ridiculous to expect you to do that. I would try again for a GP appointment.

SusieBob · 06/08/2021 13:19

Obviously it's not ok. You need to contact the practice manager and raise it.

MrsApplepants · 06/08/2021 13:19

This is absolutely not fine. Complain

Thanks - I'll phone up and suggest that. I was so thrown that I just didn't think!

Yes, def take a photo - you can blank out your nipples etc, or just a close up of part of the rash.

Sexnotgender · 06/08/2021 13:20

YANBU at all. Definitely take a photo before you go!

PercyPiginaWig · 06/08/2021 13:20

That's outrageous, I would complain and go to a different pharmacy.
I've had private consultations in Boots twice during the pandemic.
There are people going for emergency contraception or all manner of private things and personally I wouldn't want to discuss even mundane issues in front of others.

FionnulaTheCooler · 06/08/2021 13:21

Of course you shouldn't be expected to remove clothing in public so a pharmacist can examine you. Your GP needs to do their job.

Motorina · 06/08/2021 13:22

I am now trying to photograph my own cleavage. This is surprisingly difficult.

Plan is to turn up and wave my iphone at the window. If they're not happy with that then they'll have to find somewhere private!

Oh gosh that’s really awful! Definitely complain, that’s so obviously inappropriate I actually can not believe that they had the audacity to ask you to do it!
I’m sorry, I hope your rash clears up as soon as possible Flowers

No, nor can I.
CounsellorTroi · 06/08/2021 13:25

i wanted to show my pharmacist something on my back, and was a bit surprised that she expected me to hoik up my top in the shop rather than her consulting room.

High street pharmacies such as Boots will have private consulting rooms, just go to one of them.
BastardMonkfish · 06/08/2021 13:26

Oh goodness YANBU Confused sounds like intertrigo? Try Daktacourt cream!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 06/08/2021 13:27

I think a selfy-stick might help you take a photo.

(I believe it is something that young people have.)

Mantlemoose · 06/08/2021 13:27

Go to a different pharmacy.

Not being a young person, I think it's probably the first selfie I've ever taken.

Thanks, all. I think a different pharmacy is probably the plan. It's not urgent, so it can wait until next week when I'm in town. I'm actually feeling so weirded out that they would think this appropriate that I don't want to go to the one in my GP practice.

Even though no-one should be embarrassed, given the society we live in and the childish response of most men to breasts, totally unreasonable suggestion. Glad someone suggested the photo.

SquirtleSquad · 06/08/2021 13:31

Is this a pharmacy chain OP?

Somanysocks · 06/08/2021 13:41

Good job your rash ain't on yer bum op.

Zilla1 · 06/08/2021 13:53

That doesn't seem right, OP. If your GP's surgery has a pharmacy attached and they have said that then I would call the GP and ask to speak to the PM or a GP.

Anonanon1234 · 06/08/2021 13:53

Could it be shingles? I know someone that had this under their bust. Also, breast rash can be a warning sign for other things....you really need to be harassing the GP for a proper examination.

Wingedharpy · 06/08/2021 13:57

The world truly has gone mad.
Ask if they can check your haemorrhoids at the same time OP.
My tits would drop off before I flashed them to anyone in a car park.
Hope you get sorted soon OP - with some degree of your dignity left intact.
