Just need some help as I’m struggling. I have two boys so I’m clueless. It’s my 17 year old sons girlfriends birthday and I don’t know her that well (with lockdown etc) but would like to buy her a gift, she’ll be 17. I bought her a personalised make- up case and put some beauty wipes and make up brushes in it at Christmas, as it was a very new relationship and thought that was something most girls would be happy with but now I’m stuck. She’s not heavily into make up, my sons useless with ideas so hoping mumsnet might be a better help.
Budget £25-30.

Nice earrings , Primark gift card, hair care products . Does she have any hobbies?

dancemom · 04/08/2021 22:01

Some nice stationary?
Voucher for Starbucks / Costa?
Reusable coffee cup?
Pyjamas and slippers?

OnlyToWin · 04/08/2021 22:02

Pandora earrings?
Voucher for high street shop?
Voucher for nails/beauty treatment?
You can get name necklaces from mynamenecklace website for about £35. They are quite “in” at the moment.

OnlyToWin · 04/08/2021 22:02

One of those “love island” water bottles with her name on - my girls are desperate for one of those!!

PineappleWilson · 04/08/2021 22:02

Rucksack, does she like cooking - a taught cookery / baking session for example?

katienana · 04/08/2021 22:03

Perfume

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 04/08/2021 22:04

A Lush gift box and a Costa coffee voucher

keiratwiceknightly · 04/08/2021 22:05

Voucher for Starbucks or similar plus a set of pastel highlighters.

Krazykaren07 · 04/08/2021 22:06

What about some skincare. Even if she's not hugely into make up?
Or some nice bath treats?
My DD is similar age and isn't into make up either but she loves Soap and Glory Bath and Body stuff and Pixi Skincare products? She uses the tonics they are about £18 and loves the blue clariry one especially

Or a Starbucks Costa giftcard?

OnlyToWin · 04/08/2021 22:09

You can get nice pj sets - striped silky ones - shorts and t-shirt style from Pretty Little Thing. All my dds’ friends seem to own a pair.

Mum6457 · 04/08/2021 22:09

Nice notebook and pen? Waterstone's have arty ones.

OnlyToWin · 04/08/2021 22:11

The Katie Loxton small bags, purses and key rings are nice and come in lovely packaging.

Babyfg · 04/08/2021 22:19

£20 in a card with a nice message and a nice box of chocolates? Then she can spend it on what she wants rather than buying something she will be polite about but not use.

ssd · 04/08/2021 22:22

Aren't they into body spray at that age, the ones from superdrug they sell at the counter?

Ozanj · 04/08/2021 22:22

Is she going to uni? If so nice notebook / stationary etc might be thoughtful.

BackAwayFatty · 04/08/2021 22:23

What about a royal essence candle? They smell amazing & have a surprise ring inside. When you put the code into the site, it tells you what the ring is worth.

Body spray is pre- perfume, so young secondary school type age. I'd imagine by 17 she'd have a proper perfume, if not a small bottle of something is a lovely gift. You sound such a lovely mum, I appreciate its hard to get it right with teens though.
TheCrowFromBelow · 04/08/2021 22:31

Ask your son what she likes. Books? Creative stuff?

UserStillatLarge · 04/08/2021 22:33

Teenagers like money. Or a gift card. If you don't know her that well (can your son really not give you any ideas??) then anything suggested on here might be terribly wrong.

I'm sure you've factored this in, but £25-30 is a lot for a teen girlfriend in my world; is there any danger she might be embarrassed by how much you've spent?

IGoWalkingAfterMidnight · 04/08/2021 22:34

Stationery…

ssd · 04/08/2021 22:36

I think they like body sprays to use everyday and carry in their bags , not like perfume they use for good occasions

Herecomesthesun70 · 04/08/2021 22:37

We just got our sons GF some Lady million perfume. She's 16. Kids have expensive tastes these days.

I wouldn't risk buying something if you don't know, get a gift card and text her mum for ideas for where

ssd · 04/08/2021 22:38

Like Victoria secret

SaltySheepdog · 04/08/2021 22:39

What’s she interested in?

Cheesypea · 04/08/2021 22:41

My 15 year old would like silver jewelry, a very fluffy dressing gown, a water bottle, body shop lip balm/perfume, character socks, lush bath bomb.
