Neighbour has stolen my clogs

MongoAkimboAGoGo · 30/07/2021 08:26

I had a decorative pair of clogs outside my front door and this morning they have disappeared and a pair of old trainers put in their place. I only have 3 neighbours - I messaged the one I thought had done it saying “haha great joke, can I have my clogs back now and you can have your trainers back” and she read the message, put a laughing face on it but never replied. I went around kept it friendly, said my kids had found it very amusing but seriously, can I have them back now and she made out she didn’t know what I was talking about but was clearly trying to hold in laughter. I just want them back. I never found it funny to begin with, I was just trying to stay light hearted but I’m getting annoyed now.

Why do you think it's them and not one of the other neighbours or a random passer-by?

HerMammy · 30/07/2021 08:30

Need my specs, thought that said dogs!

shouldistop · 30/07/2021 08:30

God I thought your title said dogs!

MongoAkimboAGoGo · 30/07/2021 08:30

Because that is her sense of humour. If they had just been stolen there wouldn’t be a pair of old trainers in their place

I expect she'll wait until you're not around then put them back.

Cocomade · 30/07/2021 08:33

She may having been holding her laugh in because their clogs.
Not everyday someone comes round asking for them back

Hankunamatata · 30/07/2021 08:34

Its only 8.30 chill

WheyHey · 30/07/2021 08:34

Sit on your hands and don't react further. The more you do the funnier she'll find it
Wait for her to get bored
She'll put them somewhere random if she hasn't already

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 30/07/2021 08:35

@Hankunamatata

Its only 8.30 chill
What's the time got to do with it? Confused
Dizzy1234 · 30/07/2021 08:43

Go back round and straighten her out "I've tried to take your prank in good spirit but I want my clogs back now" be firm, she's not being funny, if she was being humorous she'd had given them back when you asked.
She being passive aggressive, she'll know that your annoyed and she's keeping it going.
Seriously tell her straight then give her a wide berth

youshallnotpass9 · 30/07/2021 08:47

@sparepantsandtoothbrush

I would guess the time has a lot to do with it, given the time this was posted.

Miniestelle · 30/07/2021 08:58

What are decorative clogs?

burritofan · 30/07/2021 09:02

Sounds like she’s doing it to get a rise out of you, so don’t give her one. Just ignore/don’t chase her. She’ll get bored eventually.

Alternatively prank her back by cling filming over her door.

MongoAkimboAGoGo · 30/07/2021 09:03

They are pot.

They haven't been stolen, title is misleading.
My neighbour has played a prank I don't find amusing is more to the point.

Nocutenamesleft · 30/07/2021 09:10

It’s theft

Ring the police now. She’s taken something off you.

Or just be firm and say. You’ve got 24 hrs to replace them. If they aren’t back within the time frame I will be contacting the police.

AnneFuckingKirrin · 30/07/2021 09:11

Oh gosh how bloody annoying.
What is she usually like ?

AfterSchoolWorry · 30/07/2021 09:13

😂

Call the boys in blue
She stole my wooden shoe!

Or two!

AnneFuckingKirrin · 30/07/2021 09:14

Well, if she is taking them and refusing to give them back it is theft isn’t it. Her intention might be to play a bit of a prank but it is still taking something that’s not hers.
shouldistop · 30/07/2021 09:14

Ring the police now. She’s taken something off you.

You'd really ring the police on a neighbour playing a harmless prank?

AnneFuckingKirrin · 30/07/2021 09:17

Grin well at the very least log it with 101. Wink

MongoAkimboAGoGo · 30/07/2021 09:17

I know it’s her because this is the kind of thing she does. At Christmas I decorated one of my little trees out front with red bows and the next morning she had covered it in one of those Halloween webs with spiders on it. My kids think the pranks are hilarious but it annoys me as I don’t like people messing with my stuff. She admitted the Christmas prank and apologised saying she’d had too much to drink. A few nights later she pulled my father Christmas’ trousers down. I feel bad because the kids find it really funny so it makes me feel like a spoilsport but I just wish she’d stop messing with my stuff

Miniestelle · 30/07/2021 09:20

Maybe it was a little mouse?

AnneFuckingKirrin · 30/07/2021 09:21

Oh god. I would find it annoying too.
My in laws are like this they hide your shoes when you want to leave their house and make out that it’s the most hilarious thing ever.
It’s not even funny when they do it to someone else.

HerMammy · 30/07/2021 09:23

No wonder the police are stretched if ppl call about stupid things like this.
