To think 5 is the most adorable age?

It just hits that sweet point of there being a small modicum of sense combined with cuddly, adorable and adoring, sweet cuteness.

If my 5 year old would reliably sleep through the night I would agree with you. As it is I prefer about 7 (based on when DS1 stopped thinking that sleep was for wimps).

Notashandyta · 21/07/2021 22:04

Totally agree.

Mad squidgy gorgeousness, with still more than a hint of mad.

Keepitonthedownlow · 21/07/2021 22:06

Yes, I'm loving my sidekick at the moment, full of wonder and fun.

FreeButtonBee · 21/07/2021 22:08

Mine is fucking mental. I am slightly less cynical about 6yos but agree they lack that squeezibilty. But s
When 5 is nice he is dynamite. Bit blows the cuddles out of the water from the better and lovelier older ones. The little shite

megletthesecond · 21/07/2021 22:09

Yanbu.

kowari · 21/07/2021 22:09

That was more three to four for DS, five not so much.

jetadore · 21/07/2021 22:13

Sweet spot is 3 for me, peak toddler cuteness, ages 2-4 were golden, 5+ was when the ‘real world’ i.e. school starts having an effect on them.

Rabbitheadlights · 21/07/2021 22:14

Not in my house unfortunately the 5yr old is the most unpredictable and unreasonable of the lot, younger and older.

WingingItSince1973 · 21/07/2021 22:15

I agree. My dgs has just turned 6 and now he's apparently too old for my nanna jokes 🤣🤣🤣 Fortunately he still loves our dino hunts. I absolutely adore this age ❤

TheSkatesOfCoachBombay · 21/07/2021 22:15

3 was DS's adorable age. He was cute, inquisitive polite and the world was wonderful. He also still loved cuddles and me.

By 5 he was Mr independent, and everything was "boring"

He does however at nearly 7 still love to cuddle me and show affection so it's not all bad.

BooksChocolateAndSleep · 21/07/2021 22:16

3-5 were maximum cuteness/funniness but my 7yo still give great cuddles. I'm finding the 12 year old a difficult age atm and he is as well, not sure either of us knows where he fits in! Not a small child but not a fully grown teenager.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 21/07/2021 22:16

I think 5- about 10 is really lovely

JackGrealishIsMyNewManCrush · 21/07/2021 22:16

Agree. Aged 4-5 to around 14 are my favourite years for children. Smile And then mid 20s+!!!

Antiquestuff · 21/07/2021 22:16

Yes! My 5yo has it all, the cuddles, the random I love you’s and the biggest imagination which allows him to bring me as many treats as my heart desires, along with the occasional tantrum and teasing his siblings of course.
He also doesn’t sleep in his own bed all night yet because that big imagination gives him big scary dreams but that’s okay, I’m happy for him to snuggle in with me because I know that one of those times that he comes in with me will be the last time….

SqueakyPeaks · 21/07/2021 22:19

I've liked every age from about 5 onwards. DS is now 11 and still a sweetheart. I'm well aware that my days are numbered. however!

Unescorted · 21/07/2021 22:19

Today 16 and 19 are the perfect age. Ask me in a couple of years and it will be 18 and 21.

Bunnycat101 · 21/07/2021 22:19

I’m really enjoying my 5yo’s company at the moment but I think she has perhaps moved past adorable. I’m in awe of how much she is learning, her creativity and how kind and socially aware she is. I appreciate her in different ways but it’s those qualities that I appreciate rather than her being adorable if that makes sense . My 2yo is peak cuteness at the moment though.

BakedTattie · 21/07/2021 22:20

My 5 year old is the devil child Grin

funinthesun19 · 21/07/2021 22:23

I have a 6 year old so not much older, and he’s my adorable, squishy, cuddly, cutepie. He calls me “lovely mummy” and is such a little sweetheart. He always draws me little pictures which quite often have mummy written on them.
He’s always talking too. Never shuts up Grin Curious about everything and telling me about everything! I wouldn’t have him any other way.

Rabbitheadlights · 21/07/2021 22:23

@BakedTattie I can relate!

HappyDaysToCome · 21/07/2021 22:25

I agree, 5 is the best age. Still cute and rather crazy, but (slightly) less hard work.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 21/07/2021 22:28

No thank you.

2 year old is my favourite age. I love the way they view the world so literally.
They are so funny, and cute.

5 is mildly annoying and they talk a lot.
I like the again when they are 8.

I also love the teenage years as well, when you can laugh together like you did when they were 2 but on an adult level.

Queynte13 · 21/07/2021 22:28

I hated 3 with a passion. He went from a dream to a nightmare overnight.

He's 5 now and he's amazing. He's so loving and just wants to do nice things for me. He leaves "surprises" (usually his favourite teddy wrapped in a blanket) for me to find when I go to bed. He's so helpful too.

I'm pregnant again and I'm dreading the slog until this baby is 5.

shas19 · 21/07/2021 22:31

My son is turning 7 this year but hes still not too old for mummy cuddles and getting his back tickled😂

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 21/07/2021 22:31

My boys as well.
