It just hits that sweet point of there being a small modicum of sense combined with cuddly, adorable and adoring, sweet cuteness.

5 is super cute. But my 9 Yr old is still super squidgy and proper hilarious too.

My granddaughter is five tomorrow. Last weekend she said 'Just so you know, it's my birthday in 5 days'. How could I forget? She has us in stitches constantly. It's 'birthday eve' right now and she went to bed singing 'Happy Birthday to me tomorrow.' (According to mum.). She is so excited.

She wants a hamster and a glittery water bottle.

I like the ages 2yrs - 8 yrs. After that 'attitude' is far too noticeable. (Ex primary school teacher.)

Two was pretty easy, no terrible twos. Night weaned, toilet trained, and really started talking at two and a half. Life was suddenly easier as he was then very much a preschooler, not a toddler. It was just as easy to go somewhere with him as it was to go alone, so many happy memories from then until five. Five was different, it wasn't bad, he was just a grown up school child then.

I prefer 3-4, I found my daughter got a load of attitude and annoying habits when she went to school. I miss the mis pronouncing of words, the toddler logic, and the days before being caught out by answering back that actually raises fair points that are difficult to argue with!

My 5 year old is hilarious, cheeky, never shuts up. He can be a grump at times but over all he's great. He is amazing with his 6 month old brother both will laugh for ages at each other.
He's constantly on the go, very active. He goes to rugby and football and as soon as its done he asks when he can go back.

Every age my ds had been has been my favourite! He's currently 2 months off 16 and he's such a good, lovely lad and still very close to me and his dad. I still get hugs! Generally speaking I think newborns are lovely and age 2-4.

@funinthesun19

I have a 6 year old so not much older, and he’s my adorable, squishy, cuddly, cutepie. He calls me “lovely mummy” and is such a little sweetheart. He always draws me little pictures which quite often have mummy written on them. He’s always talking too. Never shuts up Grin Curious about everything and telling me about everything! I wouldn’t have him any other way.
“Lovely mummy”

This is the sweetest thing I’ve read all day! ❤️

PivotPivotPivottt · 21/07/2021 23:03

I hope this is true! My 4 year old is a horror! I don't remember my eldest being so difficult but I remember she was nice when was 5 so I'm holding out hope 🤞

Puppalicious · 21/07/2021 23:06

My 5 year old hasn’t gone to school yet so he’s still retains that preschool innocence! Although my eldest was already in school and transformed from difficult hyper 4 yo to cuddly deliciousness overnight on his 5th birthday. He’s still lovely now at 8 of course. My 18 month old is peak insane cuteness but oh my god I can’t rest for a minute 😭😭 I find 18 mo to 2.5/ 3ish v hard work.

I love 5. They are much less hard work but still squishy and snuggly and have so much love to give and enthusiasm for life. DD2 is SO excited we're going on holiday and runs up to me to give me cuddles all the time and wrote 'I luv DD1' on a piece of paper to give her. They're learning so much and are cheeky and still smell delicious.

Less enthused about the haircut she gave herself today, mind...

rosalie11 · 21/07/2021 23:08

3-4 and 7-9 they’re annoying

rosalie11 · 21/07/2021 23:08

3-4 sorry is best age

iluvalfredo · 21/07/2021 23:10

My daughter is 7, almost 8 and I still find her ridiculously cute where I still bite my lip at her cuteness. I love how she thinks she's 14 but is still a little girl. Can get some good/amusing conversations with her. In my opinion this age is the best company.

Pl242 · 21/07/2021 23:13

My DD is almost 5. She has her moments of course, but I love the blend of increasing creativity and inquisitiveness with the fact that she still adores us.

Tonight’s questions before bed. “Why are animals’ brains different to ours?” And “where does electricity come from?” Grin

My DS is 2.5. He’s so so cute at the moment but also so temperamental and can be such hard work too!

I think life will be easier when he’s a bit older but you have to enjoy each stage with them as it comes don’t you.

Draineddraineddrained · 21/07/2021 23:14

God I hope you're right! Loved the baby and toddler stages, have found the 3/4 border an INCREDIBLY trying phase. Looking forward to her not getting in a goal grump about everything every 5 mins, having an attention span of more then 10 minutes, being able to wipe her own bum properly, listen to a bloody word that's said to her and look where the f she's going when she moves around!!!

Fizbosshoes · 21/07/2021 23:16

My DS was an absolute WMD when he was 2 or 3 and I felt like I couldnt turn my back for a moment for fear of what mayhem/danger he could cause. It calmed down when he was prob 4 or 5 (although hes had his moments!) ...but hes still so lovely and hes 11. I dont think I could choose my favourite age. (Hopefully he wont turn into a little shit when he leaves primary on friday 🤣)

AlexaShutUp · 21/07/2021 23:16

Yanbu, 5 is adorable. Savour it.

Having said that, my dd is 16 and she is still adorable. Still cuddly, fantastically independent and bloody good company. And very, very funny!

Every stage is wonderful and fascinating in my view. Smile

thebabessavedme · 21/07/2021 23:22

right now i am snuggled with my 5 yo dgs in a caravan bed Smile he has to sleep with me so that 'we can cuddle in the night' Smile frankly, all that means is I get 5 inches of mattress while my darling 'starfishes' and huffs on me all night! I think this is the best, most lovely age, creative, fun, open to ideas and thinks I am a wonderful nana ( Ihe knows no better! Grin) I love this child more than words could say!
