"Pingdemic"

Forgive me if I am wrong, or being naive or whatever.

But surely if everyone deleted the NHS tracking app, the "pingdemic" we're currently in would subside?

Ready to hear I'm being unreasonable but it's just a thought if we want life to resume back to normal as quick as possible.

It is impossible to reduce spread to zero
It's not about reducing it to zero, it's about reducing to a manageable level, so that NHS hospitals can get on and treat non-covid patients, some who are dying because covid patients take priority.

Anything that helps just does this, helps. Why is there to gain by pretending all is well?

The virus is going to spread. It is impossible to reduce spread to zero.

Why is it all or nothing? Why is it always 'we can't get rid of it right now so we may as well just not bother?

The idea is to stop as many onward transmissions as possible to prevent exponential growth; ideally until we get a decent wall of immunity built up.

It's a total nightmare. So much disruption. Key workers, food distribution, so many people getting pinged. Nightmare. Don't know what answer is Confused

@TirisfalPumpkin in a school staff room? Really?? Surely that's just NHS and such like

But let’s just say everyone gets the vaccine and the virus continues to mutate and still spread, including those vaccinated then what the heck can we do?
We can’t keep locking down and furloughing half the working population.
I honestly don’t know what would happen.
They’ll be no one left paying income tax to pay for the NHS !

I also can’t help but wonder that freedom day occurred because Boris was told there’s no more money left to furlough staff and lockdown.
Hence why we opened back up.

I am sure Rishi could have given one of the trees in his magic money tree forest a shake.

I heard a virologist on r4 today saying the biggest concern was it circulating in high numbers amongst vaccinated and then mutating.

I thought omg well how do we get out of this then??!!
