Where has all the cannelloni gone?

Been to 4 supermarkets today, Sainsbury, Tesco, Asda and Aldi, not one had any cannelloni shells in. I could swear it used to be easily available everywhere. Are they blocking Italian products at Dover or something?

I have noticed loads of empty shelves lately. The pandemic has really masked the impact of Brexit. Strangely leaving the biggest trading block in the world and workers from the EU leaving has impacted on our tiny Island.

Amazon Prime has 3 boxes for £6. I used to be able to get it in Tesco but not seen it for ages either.

Thriwit · 15/07/2021 23:23

I’ve been getting my sister to get cannelloni from Asda for me because Sainsbury’s here haven’t been selling it for ages.

My main problem ingredient at the moment is corn on the cob. Just cannot find that anywhere.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 15/07/2021 23:25

is there a correlation with lots of abandoned guns at murder scenes?

TheKeatingFive · 15/07/2021 23:26

I’ve loads of cannelloni. Lidi had it a few weeks ago. I also have a pack of orzo.

I’m in ROI though.

Don’t think UK corn is harvested until late September?

Frozen peas are in short supply here

Brexit and the pandemic act exponentially to magnify the shortages we will experience in some but not all things over the next 12 months. What has also not helped to a lesser extent is the Covid bounce back loan scheme. It has incentivised some contractors in the logistics industry to collapse their businesses and move back overseas, turning a loan of £50,000 into a grant. You will read a bit more of this soon.

Asda had plenty of orzo a couple of weeks ago

Glances at pasta extruder sitting on the sideboard and preens

I’ve had issues getting semolina flour from the supermarket.

@Marmite27

Probably fucked off with the low fat coleslaw Angry

I don’t like the regular stuff, it’s too creamy Envy

Managed to get low fat coleslaw this week.

But they’ve changed the packaging and it has a silly cellophane lid now, rather than one that closes and they’ve reduced the size from 500g to 300g.

I’m not bothered about the size change as I struggled to eat it all? But the lid thing is pretty annoying Angry

babymidgetgem · 17/07/2021 10:22

I thought it was just me! I really wanted to make cannelloni the other day and looked in three different supermarkets with no luck!

Dollywilde · 17/07/2021 12:04

@Marmite27 oh the lid thing fucks me off endlessly, especially since hard plastic can be recycled here but cellophane can’t. They’ve taken to doing it with the big yogurt pots, I actually found one with a hard lid the other day and I’ve washed it up and kept it for future use I have apparently become my mother
