The news is reporting that a number of ticketless fans have forced their way into the stadium and occupied other people’s seats. The match has not been paused (which imo it should have been).

AIBU to think this shouldn’t be possible! What if they were terrorists instead of fans? Or what if there were enough of them to cause a crush?

Agree-can't believe it happened. It looks from the footage as if security was minimal, hope that wasn't actually the case ☹

Yes, absolutely baffling. They know what some fans are like following the Denmark game, there should have been more of a police presence. The eyes of the world are on us and makes it look as though there's no law and order whatsoever

They should have known what would happen, there have been thousands of people running riot in the streets all day. It just shocks me that in the wake of tragedies like Manchester Arena, people can still just storm their way into a large venue.

I actually feel quite sorry for any Italian fans in the stadium as I think there will be massive problems at the end if they win , which at the moment is looking like the likely outcome .

There obviously is security but looks like they were completely outnumbered. It’s easy enough to say there should have been more police but there’s been trouble elsewhere as well - apparently Trafalgar Square has had knobs messing around as well.

It does look like there’s been some security cock ups though and lessons do need to be learned - whoever decided to leave the disabled gate open will probably not have a job tomorrow morning; and looks like they need to redesign the turnstiles to make it impossible for people to follow in behind a genuine ticket holder.

It looks like there has already been fighting at half time. And these are the people that the government trusts to be sensible and follow guidance after the 19th!

Whatever the score, I think it's scary for any Italian fans there, anyone working there and many women and children in their own homes tonight.

Fucking football. I've been to countless events for other sports and NEVER has there been anything near to what happens with football on seemingly a weekly basis. What is it about this particular sport that results in such cuntish fans?

It’s not like this is a “govt test event” or anything. Meant to be checking covid status etc. Aren’t event checking tickets.
