It's impossible to find startrite shoes that fit DD!

Not 1 website that stocks Start rite shoes sells DD's correct size. Am I the only one that has this problem?

DD is a size 8.5E. I have been trying to get her size of shoes for weeks now and absolutely nowhere has her size in stock, it's infuriating!

Clarks do not agree with her feet so the poor thing has been walking about with a badly fitting pair of sandals and I feel awful for her.

I'm desperate, please tell me where I can find them that I haven't already tried. Most online retailers that sell them are a generic width F and no good to me Hmm will I have better luck in a shop?

Any other brand recommendations that are good quality and fit similar to start rite?

Go to a shop. Try an independent shoe shop that will sell a variety of brands.

Pottedpalm · 10/07/2021 17:02

There are a couple of pairs, barely used, on E Bay, but you probably want new, I expect. Yes

TeenMinusTests · 10/07/2021 17:03

You could contact French & Sons Southampton www.wjfrenchandson.co.uk/

They are very knowledgable and always found shoes to fit DD who was also generally an E fitting.

We mainly had Startrites, with some other makes (Petasil was one), occasionally.

Pluckyduck · 10/07/2021 17:06

My local shoe shop is an independent and they are brilliant. They have stock on the website and will post across Uk. It’s
thegoldenboot.co.uk/
I have bought all my DD’s shoes here.

Terrazzo · 10/07/2021 17:07

Just go to a shoe shop and they’ll have a variety of brands and can make sure they fit properly.

Both my boys had wide feet and high insteps. Ricosta were really good and lasted very well.

HoldYourBreath · 10/07/2021 17:11

@TeenMinusTests They only seem to have wide fit and standard unfortunately. Thanks for the recommendation though.

@Pluckyduck I thought I was on to a winner there. They do have her size but it's only really school shoes they have. I need something for summer like canvas or trainers.

Hold Honestly I'd ring them up. They always had E fittings when we went. It might just be that they haven't got new stock in as they will stock up for new academic year in August. (Is it school shoes or something else you are after?)

HoldYourBreath · 10/07/2021 17:17

It's looking likely I'll need to drag DD to a shop. I tend to buy online now as the last time I ended up trying 4 different shops before I found one with her size. Even then the selection wasn't great.

HoldYourBreath · 10/07/2021 17:19

@TeenMinusTests Thank you! That would be fantastic. I'm looking for something for summer so a light canvas or trainers.

x-post. I see not school shoes. We always used Clarks Doodles sandals as they are velcro and so we could make them tighter. (if they still exist)
We again tended to find trainers were less of an issue as they too could be done up tighter by velcro.

girlmom21 · 10/07/2021 17:19

Vans are pretty narrow and converse mostly have Velcro straps in toddler sizes if you need canvas type shoes?

HairyFeline · 10/07/2021 17:20

Pediped are great. Used them for two or three years now.

Nike are really good at wide fits. Might be useful as a temp fix.
FamilyAreEverything · 10/07/2021 17:21

Have you had a look at Bobux OP? They are a New Zealand brand designed by podiatrists. Highly recommend.

TeenMinusTests · 10/07/2021 17:24

So generally if you get sandals that are velcro adjustable both around the toes and the ankle then the width issue matters much less in our experience.

yikesanotherbooboo · 10/07/2021 17:33

DS1 had very narrow feet. My other DC could walk into any shop and come out with shoes that fit but he has always had problems. I used to buy lace ups and taught him to do them himself for when he started school. A pair of trainers, school shoes , slippers and wellies covered normal life. I think he had the odd pair of jelly sandles for the beach .

HoldYourBreath · 10/07/2021 17:44

@FamilyAreEverything I'll have a look at the thank you.

@TeenMinusTests If I don't have any luck phoning them I'll maybe try the velcro straps. Dd is really between a D and E width so it's a hit or a miss. This might be the solution I need.

@yikesanotherbooboo I did have a pair of regular lace trainers but I found that they would mark her feet as we had to lace them really tightly to stop them slipping. Maybe velcro is the way to go, long slim feet are a nightmare to shop for.

Next stock startright shoes in store and online

TeenMinusTests · 10/07/2021 18:30

Doodles don't seem to be around any more (well DD2 is 16) but www.clarks.co.uk/c/Expo-Sea-Toddler/p/26158000 is the kind of thing that used to work for her.

Pluckyduck · 10/07/2021 19:48

What about these @HoldYourBreath? I know they are an F but they are Velcro which means you can make them as tight as you need to . Start rite sandal style and In the sale!
