To think that Matt Hancock had to be got rid of and so was stitched up?

I’ll start by saying I’m not one for conspiracies, neither do I particularly like Hancock. I’ve suspected it all along, but I can see it even more clearly now. He was the one person standing in the way of fully lifting restrictions, wanting to proceed with caution and so they had to get rid of him. I can’t believe more people haven’t worked it out yet. Why sit on that footage for six weeks? They had his successor in in under and hour.

It makes me sick. What a terrifying joke of a government we have.

Nobody forced him to hide the sausage

ThursdayWeld · 06/07/2021 14:16

I'm not sure I follow your "reasoning".

It’s not really relevant thought is it? I couldn’t give a shit what people do in their private lives so long as they can do their jobs.

Well I don’t think he was stitched up, I don’t think Boris made him have an affair with an aide. He’s responsible for his own actions there.

However, was that information kept quiet until someone decided they needed a scapegoat? Absolutely. I don’t think he was standing in the way as such but with Cummings testimony of how useless Hancock was, then the affair it’s quite easy for the public to pin it all the failure on Hancock. If easing of restrictions goes tits up, I’m sure they’ll find something on Javid too.

SW1amp · 06/07/2021 14:19

The Government has a successor for every ministerial post
Reshuffles are generally planned months ahead

The footage was ‘sat on’ because the leaker wanted the original footage off the hard drives before the leaked footage appeared

Add in a few weeks for horse trading on outlet, price and final legal sign off and there is no conspiracy, unless you don’t have the first clue how Westminster works

And it sounds like you don’t…

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 06/07/2021 14:19

well of course someone stitched him up by sharing the footage, but he still had an affair so he stitched himself up as well!

CrackOnOrGoHome · 06/07/2021 14:20

This was said at the time. But if he hadn’t been snogging his aide in the first place...

Orf1abc · 06/07/2021 14:20

You're giving too much credit to Hancock, he's in on it as well. The cabinet decided they needed to massively u turn and forget their 'following the science' claims, but Hancock would completely lose face if he did that. So he steps down and 'all about the money' Javid steps in.

The manipulation is terrifying, yes.

chickenyhead · 06/07/2021 14:21

If it isn't his affair you are talking about, which nobody forced him to undertake, what is it exactly?

Orf1abc · 06/07/2021 14:21

Do we still think his wife didn't know about the affair until the night before the press published it? Or had it been a marriage of convenience for some time, like Gove?

What a weird post. Why would the OP have the first clue about how Westminster works and if you don't does that mean you're not allowed to comment on it? What a superior attitude. Did you attend Eton?
LittleBearPad · 06/07/2021 14:22

It’s absolutely relevant that he chose to have an affair. Putting aside the generally shittiness of adultery he chose to snog his aide which completely undermined his ability to tell the population to abide by social distancing when he clearly wasn’t.

I’m actually genuinely terrified of how corrupt and morally bankrupt this government is. And no, I didn’t vote them so can sleep soundly in my bed.

She clearly didn’t know about it.

Look at the pap shots of them out and about in the preceding months…

grapewine · 06/07/2021 14:24

I would give a shit about one of our politicians (I'm not in the UK anymore) we're snogging someone not his wife at a time when rules were saying I couldn't hug my family. The hypocrisy is so thick you can cut it. That's leaving his suspect morals to one side.

As I've said before, he's aptly named.

He couldn't do his job, and its not your private life when you're doing it in the office.

There is an interesting podcast out there where a journalist claimed that it was Mrs Hancock’s decision to end the marriage when he told her of the affair. Not the heartless ‘he’s left his wife and kids for another woman’ narrative that we are being told. I definitely think there is more to the story than we know.

Why would the OP have the first clue about how Westminster works? Confused
She has literally started a thread crying conspiracy because the chain events doesn’t seem right, and claiming she ‘can’t believe more people haven’t worked it out’

OP quite clearly thinks she is on to something that the rest of us mugs have overlooked. Which is ironic because it just exposes the huge gaps in the basic knowledge of how Westminster works.

It’s not a superior attitude, it’s just pointing out what is blindingly obvious

Kanaloa · 06/07/2021 14:29

I don’t think they stitched him up. Unless maybe they hired the aide to secretly seduce him while pretending to be a normal aide, a secret spy like black widow in iron man 2.

3scape · 06/07/2021 14:30

They've all got some skeleton in the closet or they wouldn't get high profile roles. No point in giving out the power if you can't manipulate it, right?

Bluntness100 · 06/07/2021 14:31

Um if he wasn’t shagging his aide he’d have had no issues op.

ThursdayWeld · 06/07/2021 14:37

I’ll start by saying I’m not one for conspiracies

And yet here you are, posting one.

BogRollBOGOF · 06/07/2021 14:38

His choice to shag the aide and mishandle the email accounts. The government's choice to pick the timing to force him out.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 06/07/2021 14:39

Yes it is relevant!!!!!. It’s very very damn relevant. The Plummed gobbed patronising tosser was dictating to us about Social Distancing ect. Stopping families from being together. People had to say goodbye to their ones over the phone.
All the while he’s boning some other women. No one likes being dictated to as it is and certainly not by someone who won’t follow their own orders.
Oh and out of curiosity What did he do in his job that was so “good”.

"It’s not really relevant thought is it? I couldn’t give a shit what people do in their private lives so long as they can do their jobs."

Given the fact that he was clearly shagging her in his office, I'm guessing he wasn't doing his job when he was supposed to be?
