To have removed a Covid conspiracy sticker?

There was a sticker up at the bus stop today along the lines of "resistance", "the media is the virus" etc. I've seen them before and found them a bit annoying. But I've never removed them thinking it wasn't my place. But for some reason today I did. There was no one else around and I just tore it off and put it in the bin. I want this all to end as much as the next person, but I feel like encouraging others to believe Covid isn't real is a step too far. Would you have done the same? I'm doubting myself now and wondering if I should have just left it alone.

YABU - you should have left the sticker up
YANBU - I would have done the same

I have done the same.

SometimesIFeedTheSparrows · 30/06/2021 21:00

Someone has put a sticker on every lamp post between my house and the town centre.

Someone else has walked along with a sharpie and blocked out each and every sticker Grin

They even put a couple on letterboxes where the front door is on the pavement.

toconclude · 30/06/2021 21:01

Well done.

Ch3rish · 30/06/2021 21:02

There was a similar sticker near me for a couple of days and then there wasn't. I assumed a sensible person had put it in the bin

Snozzlemaid · 30/06/2021 21:11

My dd19 did this yesterday in a row of toilet cubicles.
We have been away for a few days and we were out for a walk in the evening. She went to the toilet and came back delighted to say she'd removed an anti-vax sticker from the back of each door and put them in the bin.
That's my girl Grin

Sycamoretrees · 30/06/2021 21:13

Hope you washed your hands after! Grin

roundtable · 30/06/2021 21:15

We got a -covid 19 isn't real- glossy leaflet through the door.

Who is spending their money on this?!

RubyGoat · 30/06/2021 21:23

DH defaces them. In humorous, insulting and amusing ways. For example, one recent sticker mentioned being suspicious of SAGE. DH added "& onion." He now carries a sharpie especially for this purpose.

Did he not have any room for stuffing Smile

Btw good for him.

I'm doubting myself now and wondering if I should have just left it alone.

Why?

PurpleyBlue · 30/06/2021 21:58

It's very nice of you to tidy up the bus stop.

DdraigGoch · 30/06/2021 22:00

I came across one on the outside of a train toilet door. Quite a large sticker making references to "muzzles" and other conspiribollocks. Took quite a while to scrape it off with the flat edge key but the door was undamaged once I'd done so.

Justanotherlurker · 30/06/2021 22:12

My friend went round her local town and ripped off 'my body my choice' stickers which falls under the same bracket.

Most people ignore them and dont need to make a pseudo niave post asking for a pat on the back.

RubyGoat · 30/06/2021 22:35

Someone is putting a lot of time & money into it local to us. We've worked out vaguely where they live, we think, & they obviously make a round trip of several miles, at least 2 or 3 nights a week (it's always at night) to post their conspiracy crap. It's plastered everywhere. Even in the loos in cafe's on occasion. Coronavirus, Brexit, flat earth, Qanon type stuff, end of days, you name it. Must be costing a fair bit in sticker paper & printer ink.

JackieCollinshasnoauthority · 30/06/2021 22:46

YANBU, I've done the same. Saw a guy slap it on a wall and went over to have a nose. It was the white rose group who are essentially holocaust deniers so i ripped it straight down.

delilabell · 30/06/2021 22:50

@Justanotherlurker why remove the "my body my choice?"

Nervousdave · 30/06/2021 22:53
@Justanotherlurker why remove the "my body my choice?"
Presumably it's about anti vaxx not abortion

AutistGoth · 30/06/2021 22:56

I always remove controversial stickers. Not just anti-vax ones.

The white rose are holocaust deniers? Surely not. They were German youngsters opposed to the Nazis and were executed fr their resistance en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Rose
Justanotherlurker · 30/06/2021 23:26

@delilabell I didn't remove them but my friend did on an anti vax theme.

Context is we are not white and don't live in an white area. There is random shite being posted everywhere that doesn't require an faux innocence intternet pat on the back

AlternativePerspective · 30/06/2021 23:29

Who are these sad fuckers and where are they getting the money from to produce this shite? From the taxpayer no doubt….

Shock there are a fair few stickers by them in our town centre but I've never looked them up and therefore didn't know they were so unsavoury. Most of them have been defaced already, will try my bit to remove them now!
UsedUpUsername · 30/06/2021 23:36

YANBU but not because of the message. No one should be sticking things like that on public property.

With all due respect and I could be wrong, but I ask is this what being part of democracy is about with regards to hearing different perspectives and different views ? Let's not forget the scandals of the past with different events ect, yes everything may be presented in the media,
JackieCollinshasnoauthority · 30/06/2021 23:49

@Flamingdingus the original white rose group were not holocaust deniers but the name has been adopted by covid conspiracy theorists deliberately to obfuscate their aims and minimise the Holocaust.
