If you have kids in year 6 who are leaving to go to senior school or are a teacher or TA for year 6 can you please fill me in with what the school is doing to make this term special.
My son's school have cancled the PGL, disco and day out and are doing nothing and I want to raise this with the head because I'm sure it's not the norm.
AIBU to expect something fun for them and not just exams for their last few weeks before hitting big school?

Go rogue, at this late stage id organise a picnic in the park for the last day. Parents can each sit on their own blankets with their own food etc. Completely take it away from the school so they can’t block or be involved so it’s not putting them at risk.

Several of those increase the risk to teachers.

My next door neighbour is livid with the school as they're not taking her kids on a residential.

On a completely separate note, she's currently WFH. Her employer has said she must go back to the office 3 days a week starting from 29th of July. She's livid as she feels it clearly isn't safe yet.

Our PGL was cancelled but they have a two day outdoor pursuits thing at school to make up for it. We have hoodies and yearbooks and prom but sadly leavers assembly will be on zoom for parents. I compare it to what DD had two years ago and it makes me so sad, DS is fine about it though. Then in September he is going to a secondary school he has never even seen with none of his friends (all transition events cancelled) but he can’t wait, it’s bothering me more than him!!
