English. Grey slightly wavy hair. Unsure of current age, but he has to be 70s. In my mind he was on TV about 20 years ago and had grey hair then. TV actor. Played a part in a TV comedy. Wore a grey suit. Charismatic. He played a politician, I think, or a similar role where he had to report to someone. He wasn't in Yes Minister though, which was my first thought. I can picture him so clearly! But I have no idea from where!

Of course it was Anthony Head, this is MN. About 75% of MNers have met AH, and every one of them can vouch for the fact that he is LOVELY.

I'd be happy for people post their Anthony Head encounters all over again, since I'm in the 25% and I like to live vicariously Grin

Hugoslavia · 30/06/2021 22:52

Well, I've never met Anthony Head. Obviously. Otherwise I'm sure that I would have remembered him. I've never even had so much as a sniff of his coffee jar.

Trevor Eve?

OrrisRoot · 30/06/2021 22:53

DP met him and he was apparently “jolly nice and polite”. Sorry it’s secondhand @Thekindofwindowsfaceslookinat , but I hope it’s something for you be getting on with. Smile

Hugoslavia · 30/06/2021 22:56

And I will apologize to Anthony Head. He is apparently only 67!

Thekindofwindowsfaceslookinat · 30/06/2021 22:57

That will do nicely Orris Grin

@OrrisRoot

I nearly did throw myself in the pond. But it's in the front garden and only a couple of feet deep.

Perfect for a dramatic gesture. Smile

earminted · 30/06/2021 23:07

I think you're wrong OP. It's Simon Williams. Grin

MintyCedric · 30/06/2021 23:13

Trevor Eve, ironically, is married to 'coffee woman' (Sharon Maughan)

Zeev · 30/06/2021 23:25

Random Anthony Head trivia: Murray Head (the one with the musical hit One Night in Bangkok) is his brother.

I just found that out last week so now you will too, except you all probably already knew. Blush

Tormundsbeard · 30/06/2021 23:30

I have met Anthony Head and never shared that fact on Mums net before. He was lost in Soho looking for a recording studio and came into reception where I worked to call them to get directions. This was the early 90s before mobiles. I can confirm Anthony Head was lovely.

OrrisRoot · 30/06/2021 23:41

He gets around. I wonder if he has a squad of decoy lookalikes?

romany4 · 30/06/2021 23:59

Completely off point but he's currently filming in Bradford.
My son met him last week in his local shop. Lovely man apparently!

Wasn't that a Buffy episode?
AbsolutelyPatsy · 01/07/2021 05:14

why was the nescafe ad so popular?

Elderflower14 · 01/07/2021 05:38

Another one here who's met him. Ds2 and I were visiting Discover Dogs.
When I explained to ds who AH was he taught him the sign language for vampire ... AH was very impressed. 😁 😁 😁 😁

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/07/2021 06:01

He was marvellous in Cabin Pressure on Radio 4. It was a red letter day when he turned up in The Archers but sadly he hasn't become a regular.

Why was Nescafe ad so popular? It was like a mini soap opera in the ad break. Also, far more people watched ITV then. No internet, Sky, Netflix, digital channels etc. BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Channel 4, or you made your own entertainment. Grin

londonscalling · 01/07/2021 06:33

I can't believe anyone would think Anthony Head is in his 70s!

whataboutgus · 01/07/2021 06:57

Anthony head? He's in EVERY programme every made.

I thought it was going to be somebody obscure

OrrisRoot · 01/07/2021 07:16

@AbsolutelyPatsy

It was like an ongoing soap opera. For years. “Will they? Won’t they?” Both good looking. All based around the weird conceit that Gold Blend coffee was somehow sophisticated. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/07/2021 07:38

Come on, it was the 80s! Lots of people were still drinking instant coffee made from that weird fine powder that went everywhere if you spilled it. Coffe granules were sophisticated! Coffee in cafes and restaurants was rarely any good in the UK. Also, we didn't know about Nestle's unethical practices promoting baby milk in poor countries where breastfeeding was the safer option.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/07/2021 07:38

(Because of lack of clean fresh water to make up formula, I should add - as well as all the other benefits for baby and mother)

AbsolutelyPatsy · 01/07/2021 07:40

my colleague drinks gold blend, i must ask her if she enjoyed the ad
