YABU- I wouldn't
YANBU- in a heartbeat

I would. I miss running to the otherwise of the playground because walking was too slow. or walking along walls because the floor was too boring. Stuff like that. I read quite a lot of books written from a child's perspective. And listen to the hits from when I was about 5-8 whereas my DH listens to music from his teens and early twenties. My parents have said they would go back to being a young adult over a child.

I am in the midst of child rearing but when this is over I suppose I would long for these years and might forget about my own childhood.

No way. No control or ability to set your own environment if the adults go haywire.

Hm2020 · 25/06/2021 13:02

If it wasn’t my own childhood yes

imscaredpleasehelp · 25/06/2021 13:06

I don't mean go back, just to experience it again, maybe for a week?

ScottishNewbie · 25/06/2021 13:07

I would go back go about 16, if I could have the knowledge that I do now....but I suppose that's cheating.
If I just had to re live exactly as things have already been, then no.

Antiqueanniesmagiclanternshow · 25/06/2021 13:08

Not a chance.

thebattleofschrutefarms · 25/06/2021 13:09

Nope.

Nope. It was miserable. An hour with my lovely dad would be nice, but not a whole week of my childhood.

It sounds like you were lucky OP.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 25/06/2021 13:10

Nope. I don't have one good memory of being a child at all.

Billandben444 · 25/06/2021 13:10

I would but only like a Dr Who visit, not to live my life again. I'd love to go back and make the effort to get to know my dad who died when I was young, I'd love to go back back and work at getting on with my twin so that we're still in contact. I'd love to go back with the knowledge I've gained in life of what's really important. Nostalgia breaks me sometimes.

RosaDiazRocks · 25/06/2021 13:11

I don't know. I was abused as a child, so if it was a good week, then yes - there were good times and it might be fun to experience those again. OP mentions running to the park, I would like to relive that feeling of getting a new book from the library and walking home with it carefully clutched to my chest. If it was a bad week, it might be interesting to view it all again with adult eyes, because I was unaware anything was wrong at the time, but then again I relive a lot of that anyway through vivid flashbacks which is distinctly un-fun, so maybe it would just be more traumatic.

DiaryofWimpyMumm · 25/06/2021 13:11

For a week yes.

Or back to 16 and do things differently

Crazycakelady17 · 25/06/2021 13:12

Nope had a horrendous childhood I would go back to when I was 20 married my lovely DH and moved abroad and got away from the evil stepfather

Indigopearl · 25/06/2021 13:12

No becuase I hated school. I would go back to my early 20s though.

qualitygirl · 25/06/2021 13:14

Yes, it feels like it was all a lovely dream. I miss it.

Daffodil123456 · 25/06/2021 13:16

With different parents I would yes

bloodywhitecat · 25/06/2021 13:17

Not my childhood no but I would like to go back and experience a more normal childhood.

grey12 · 25/06/2021 13:17

For a visit, sure :) maybe go back to some holidays. Miss the beach with the covid quarantine.....

pippapoo62 · 25/06/2021 13:18

My childhood was crap ,and would not like to repeat it ever.

thatsnotgoingtowork2 · 25/06/2021 13:22

Like any other part of life, I would return for specific days.

thelegohooverer · 25/06/2021 13:22

I’d love to go back and spend a day with my little brother again, but I don’t think I could manage my own childhood for any longer than that.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 25/06/2021 13:26

My childhood was lovely, and I would love to relive certain moments, or even just the feeling of cycling up and down the road at dusk after school on a Friday with all the other kids from the estate and smelling coal smoke and autumn. I get glimpses of the way things felt, and nothing feels like that as an adult.

Mind you I also thought we would all die in a nuclear inferno (if we survived the quicksand) so I suppose that is the other side of being a child.

MarisPiper92 · 25/06/2021 13:26

No. My childhood was nothing like as bad as a lot you see on here, but I still hated it.

However, I have friends who talk about how fun and carefree their childhoods were, and I'd quite like to see what that would be like.

RickiTarr · 25/06/2021 13:27

Sorry OP. Not the thread you were expecting, I’d guess?

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 25/06/2021 13:30

no way

if I could go back and pick a different childhood, not that it was horrible, then maybe. but the same thing again?
no fucking way

FlamingGoat · 25/06/2021 13:30

Yes. I'd love to return to 1978 with my family still alive .
I miss my hometown, my friends and family.
