To ask where you got your wedding suits from?

Help!
We've been everywhere - M&S, Next, Moss Bros, John Lewis and we cannot find wedding suits anywhere.
We are after grey suits (preferably light) in a wide range of sizes. It seems that since covid everywhere has cut their suit selection back.
We've found a few online but really wanted to see them in person as a couple that we have thought were ok turned out to be basically White or a tweed type pattern!

Any suggestions or am I doomed never to find them.

We went to TM Lewin, they have a good selection although dh had navy not gray

minimadgirl · 24/06/2021 15:21

Sure Matalan had them in the other week.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 24/06/2021 15:24

Do you have a Slaters near you?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 24/06/2021 15:25

My dh just bought a grey suit he liked - it wasnt marked as a wedding suit. Are you specifically looking for something with "wedding" on the description?

prettyvisitor · 24/06/2021 15:28

Slaters! Free alterations and very reasonable indeed. They'll also post the finished suit out to you if you live too far away to collect. Got three piece grey suits, all altered to fit, £120 each.

Wow thank you so much everyone. Off to google now!

My husband got a Top Shop Suit. (I know!!!) Probably one of the cheapest suits he's ever had....but....he wanted a light colour to match my sons - and their suits were right colour and fashionable cut. Something he's now said he's unlikely to ever wear again - so we did the right thing. It looked OK as it had never been to the dry cleaners or washed and cost the same as hiring one.

Slimmingstar · 24/06/2021 15:58

Went to in independent suit and gentlemen’s clothing shop, not a chain. More expensive, but personal service finding the right fit and free alterations.

Same!! The one and only time he has ever shopped there.

He reuses it for all weddings and christening.

I don't understand. Yes, agree on a colour/shade but everything else is up to the groom. or is the groom just as occupied with the choice of your drsss and the bridesmaids dresses?

3Britnee · 24/06/2021 17:47

Debenhams.

He values my input...

We eloped so we didn't have a wedding party to cater to but DH got his suit from Ted Baker (in the sale Grin).

IgiveupallthenamesIwantedareg0 · 24/06/2021 18:06

OP: so he doesn't trust his own taste and opinions?

savemejebus · 24/06/2021 18:14

@IgiveupallthenamesIwantedareg0 how on earth on an innocent post about bloody suits can someone be so deliberately obtuse and passive-aggressive? Beggars belief. Toddle off to AIBU if you want a bunfight.

@squiddylama - I third Topman, my husband and all the groomsmen AND my dad & father in law got theirs from there and they were perfect: fashionable, comfy, smart and affordable. They all trot them out every wedding we go to now like a bunch of copycats.

savemejebus · 24/06/2021 18:17

(Although I realise now this is AIBU so egg on my face 🤦🏼‍♀️)

squiddylama · 24/06/2021 18:26

@IgiveupallthenamesIwantedareg0 I literally don't understand what your problem with this is! He values my input. We have planned this wedding together, we just want to know where to look for suits!

Try slaters

IgiveupallthenamesIwantedareg0 · 24/06/2021 19:13

OP: all I said was that I don't understand your level of input
You haven't answered my question about his input into your dress or bridesmaid dresses.
I honestly don't care but it gives the impression that it is clear about who is going "to wearing the trousers" in this "fashion show" - sorry, wedding.

Thehop · 24/06/2021 19:15

Slaters will have what you need!

My husband got his men’s suits from a M&S outlet at a Freeport type place. They were cheaper than hiring.

thisplaceisweird · 24/06/2021 19:16

Mango and Zara

thisplaceisweird · 24/06/2021 19:18

Jesus... Most women help their husband buy clothes. She's asking the question to help him. It's not unusual and it's not a big antifeminist issue. Take a chill pill @IgiveupallthenamesIwantedareg0

Frazzled2207 · 24/06/2021 19:19

honestly I am not keen on the matching mens' suits thing. We bought a really nice suit from Paul Smith which he's worn a lot since. All the groomsmen were asked to wear the same tie but that was as 'matchy' as we went.

Biffbaff · 24/06/2021 19:52

Charles Tyrwhitt, my dad and husband got the same style there in different colours, and also reuse for other occasions.

How is me helping him with his suit running the show? My bridesmaid is picking her own dress (although we all had an input on the colour' and my dress is a surprise as that's tradition. Is there a tradition on not helping pick a suit? I'm not aware of one. I am not wearing the trousers, he is, hence the suit!
